I have heard that in an unheated space, it's actually better for equipment to sit on gravel or dirt than concrete.

The Chevy 1500 comes with a single speed transfer case for 2020, RPO-NPO. RPO-NQH is the "active" 2 speed transfer case that is included when you upgrade to the required Z71 Off Road Package. This is not an across the board application. Some 1500 model configurations will come with the 2 speed case. In the GMC lineup, RPO-X31 is the Off Road Package.

In the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, the standard is a 2 speed transfer case, RPO-NQF. The upgrade unit will be the 2 speed RPO-NQH "active" 2 speed case. As mentioned above, the choice of T-case will be model dependent.

As I've mentioned in the past, no more 4.10 axles.

OK, you seem to have quite a bit of information on hand.
Am I incorrect in understanding that every t case going in Chevy pickups in 2020 has a computer controlled electrically activated clutch in them?

I just traded a 2016 GMC 1500 4x4 with 39k. Needed front brakes & rotors at around 34k and it was probably my fault due to heavy traffic driving and my manual brake controller tended to be too hot or too cold braking wise so I ran it a little light. Best front rotors and brakes from autozone ran about $180. I didn't bother with the warranty 'cause I figured I was responsible. I'm in PA and they salt everything and there wasn't any real rust on my rotors. Rear brakes were OEM.

Typically, wear items (think: brake pads & rotors..) are not warrant-able, unless you can prove some kind of defect existed. Good luck with that.

I would think your local dealer would have been a little more "helpful" to retain you as a customer. But what do I know...

Hope your next truck performs better.

I’ll never buy a new Chevy. I hate the square front ends. I’ll never buy an old ford or probably a new one either because I hate ford. I think the body style in the 2000s is the best American made vehicle ever built.
Agree

I am a GM guy,but never had much luck with brakes lasting;that said Subaru replaced a set at 32,000 miles under warranty for us.

I'm shocked some don't like rear disc brakes! I've been running them since the early 80's and I have NO complaints with them at all.

I changed the rear disc brakes (pads and rotors) on a Chevy about a month ago, second time in 230,000 miles, and a piece of cake compared to shoes! Shoe rears, just have so many more moving parts, rusty springs and all kinds of other problems to contend with.

Not to mention you have to buy two brake systems for the rear and KEEP paying to keep BOTH going! Pure BS!

Put drums on the back and on the front too, while you are at it. I rarely use my brakes actually keeping safe stopping distances and anticipating what's ahead which requires the lost art of thinking.

My 08 GMC 6.6 Engine and drivetrain has been largely trouble free. The Gimmicks and Cheaply made Garbage exterior materials on the truck are another story.

I wish they would build an entirely different line of working pickups. Basic accessories and REAL bumpers. Maybe trucks that they will only sell for CASH.

Bottom line is, they are all the same in reality. Any complex machine will break at times, especially if built by the UAW... UAW= You Ain't Working. Every automaker is all about maximum profit with minimum outlay, how it works in business. Any other way and you won't be in business very long.

Interesting scenario for me a couple years back. I delivered a load of coiled strip steel (I retired from a steel company driving one of their private fleet trucks.. Anyway, delivered to a TRW Steering Systems plant here in Michigan and while I was waiting to get unloaded I was nosing around the plant and spied a full basket of tie rod ends that looked familiar so I asked the Foreman and sure enough they were for a Ford F350. I had just replaced mine to the tune 60 bucks for the pair. I asked him how much they cost to make and he replied about 25 cents each. So if TRW sells them to Ford for say a buck a piece and distributors for say 2 bucks each, 60 bucks is a heck of a markup any way you cut the cheese.

Having said that, it's business and you as the consumer are at the bottom of the pile, like it or not.

Government Motors especially like gimmicks and those gimmicks like to fail regularly.

Being a regular visitor to auto plants in my before retired life, I can honestly say Union autoworkers are among the laziest most worthless employees anywhere. The have a great union and they need it. Takes the brain power of a chimpanzee to work on an assembly line but they still screw up regularly. been there and seen it first hand.

I could tell endless stories about a former friend/neighbor who worked at FORD ASSEMBLY OAKVILLE plant. He didn't seem to make enough, although bought a MONSTER home (moved away from me), but had to steal anything not nailed down as well.

I will never buy another GM product either...unless I move!

About 10 years ago GM decided "screw you" to all small towns (at least in the western states) and closed all dealerships in smaller towns. Nearest town to me had two GM dealerships - one sold GMC/Buick/Cadillac, the other sold Chevy. Both were shut down. Same with the two dealerships in Fallon, Nevada. GM made a corporate decision to only support dealerships in large population centers. So if you live in Nevada - 7th largest state in the nation - you essentially have 3 places you can buy a GM product - Las Vegas (500 miles south of me), Reno/Carson area 170 miles west of me, or Elko 130 miles east of me.

That's why, when you're out in rural Nevada, you see the locals driving either Ford or Dodge. Why buy a GM product and then have to drive for hours to the dealership (recalls, etc.). Why would anyone support a company that refuses to support you?

Chevy and Ford both ate me out of house and home years back. Expensive stuff like transmissions after warranty, headlight relay $400, emissions problem with Ford ultimately cause the engine to come apart. I buy Tacoma痴 now, on my fourth one, never got stranded.

They are all expensive junks, One guy buys Ford's, the next guy buys Chevy's and the next guy buys Dodges, by the time each one of the three guys takes a dirt nap, they will have owned all three because they are all junks..

I'm curious, what year and model Chevy is it?

I have a 2014 Sierra 1500 crew/4x4 and do a lot of towing (my trailers all have brakes) and last time I looked at the truck brakes at 40,000 miles they were in great shape. If this is the same generation as your Chevy then something doesn't make sense. I assume we have the same brake hardware.

^^YES...we need more information like the year of the truck the OP is talking about.

I would say build a pickup, available in white only, the engine that is the most popular, only one type and size or tire, black plastic mats, a/c and power windows and doors. Sell it at a discount price. Economies of scale, and you have to pay CASH. Get that any way you can, but the deal between you and GM is CASH and Carry. My 08 Duramax was paid for before it left the lot.

Ya got it all union folks are lazy.Really?I was a electric lineman(UNION) that kept your power on 24-7 in Michigan for 39 years before I retired. The electric fairy comes in the middle of the night, day, ice storm, thunderstorms and waves his magical wand then the lights come back on all by themselves.Lazy union BASTURDS..I get it now,Some folks have NO CLUE..

The lower dash board mounting plate in my 3500HD is thicker than the steel in the new bumpers. My Suburban needs a $150 door switch. My manual windows in my truck still work perfectly.

The factory tow hitch is the bumper. What you see as the bumper doesn't meet traffic safety standards without the tow hitch.
