Curious recommendations for the best ratchet straps and come a longs? I have a lot of various ones and they're junk. They bend, bind, break, etc.
They're really handy and I use them a lot and keep them oiled. I'm looking for heavy duty and best bang for the buck. I've been stretching woven wire fence and I spend too much time working on them, and they were supposed to be quality!
Thanks!

Maasdam Pow'r-Pull come-alongs have always been good for me. I have one I've been for using over 40 years. I think I have two 2-tons and one 4-ton now.

Not sure how heavy of a come along you’re looking for, but the ones we use for rigging at work are Harringtons. Generally small ones are 1.5 ton for us, but they do make small ones that are half ton and quarter ton for small persuading task. Also can be a bit pricey, but I’ll tell you in the few years I’ve done heavy construction maintenance I’ve never broken one.

I'd start by going to a forestry or heavy trucking supply store. I have a one ton cable come along. If I needed heavier, I'd probably go to a chain come along. I've seen loggers put a four foot pipe and all their weight on a chain come along. Takes a pretty strong design to handle that.

Masdam Pow'r-Pull products are quality come-a-longs.
The HF knock off's are just cheap junk.

Bought 8 load straps 4" X 30' at FleetPride for $18 each on a promo. Reg price is $29.

These are really heavy duty and the ratchet can take the punishment when a cheater is used to get things really tight.

They have 2" X 27' for $13.00 --- best price around

There was a product named 'TIRFOR' that used a 1/2" cable in a bolted casing.
A somewhat bulky but very powerful tool.
You could skid out 2 cu yard sized boulders with it,
I actually retrieved my 3/4 ton 4 x 4 plow truck that partially slid over a stone wall and was resting on its frame.
I chained around a sturdy tree and proceeded to effortlessly retrieve it in no time.

The design is that the steel cable is wedged between two grooved sheave halves and driven via reduction gearing.
There is no reverse but a lever de clutches to allow free pulling.
but extremely powerful'
I had the one ton version but knew of a 1/2 ton being available.

Mine was a garage sale find!
