Rounded off drain plug

I certainly hope so... we still need 165 more posts before it hits 1000.

With all due respect, a square plug is not round. And while this may have had the corners rounded off it still doesn't fit that description. However, if going that route bigger isn't always better. Also, LouNY made a very good suggestion about 150 posts ago.

Anybody who has ever used a QUALITY pipe wrench should understand that a pipe wrench is the best tool for this task, particularly since the head of the plug is now totally buggered up.

That's OK Mate, I understand that "when the only thing you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

Exactly. I have used my pipe wrench as a hammer before, but I maybe should borrow my neighbors pipe wrench next time so I do not mess mine up.

This might make a good hammer

Other than a welder what approach would you suggest? While I feel fairly certain a pair of Knipex pliers which have much better teeth than cheaper pliers would work a quality pipe wrench is the right tool for the job.

I have suggested many times that he get somebody more knowledgeable, as it would have eased(edit)perceived(end edit) his angst. ;)
For whatever reason, his attempts with a pipe wrench only made matters worse

“Perceived” angst.

Ok, I've been a fan of Knipex already but that video is freaking amazing. Menards carries these in stock, along with several other Knipex pliers in case someone wants to see them in person.

Ok, well this thread had done one thing. It has made me order a set of these pliers.

Hard to believe that Snapon actually sells that wrench for $285 when it is $135.83 on Amazon, and even less elsewhere.

Yep, and that's the great thing about this (and other TBN threads)... others can learn about other tools. That Knipex looks interesting.

I tried to keep my posts regarding fried1765's repeated calls for using a pipe wrench to a light-hearted banter. I guess we won't know until Kando finally gets around to doing it.
