I have been looking for a 10K, 7'x20' car hauler trailer to replace my 7K, 7'x18' car hauler. My current needs require hauling more weight than the old trailer would handle safely. It seems there aren't a lot of these trailers around, at least not used ones. I did run across one, price was right so the owner said he would drop it off so I could try it out to make sure it fit my needs. When he showed up though it was only 18' long but I thought I would give it a try.

As you can see, I tried loading it a couple different ways. I can make it work but I am going to hold out for a 20' trailer. May even just buy a new one.

I would go 22 or 24 feet ,Your setup is pretty long

Definitely go longer. I would try backing it on that trailer and seeing how it rode. The new fords have stout hitches. On my 450 it was rated for like 20-22k on the bumper

That trailer looks more like an equipment trailer than a car hauler.
In my opinion, buying a new trailer is the best idea.
You get new decking, new wheel bearings, new brakes, and new tires.
Wiring, coupler, breakaway chains & battery, tongue jack, and everything else is new.
You should specify 16" wheels also.
I bought 20', but should have bought at least 22'.

I'm resisting going longer than 20' due to using the same trailer to haul my camper and ATV into the mountains, the longer it gets the fewer places I can get into.

I measured it out for backing the tractor on but that will leave quite a bit of open deck in the front of the trailer and leave the bucket hanging quite a ways out the back. The center of weight is just in front of the back tire and what appeared to give the best tongue weight was with the front of the rear rim centered over the center of the axles. I didn't pull it to confirm but I know it won't vary much from that.

The trailer manufacturer's web site calls it a car hauler so that is what I will call it.

I will probably end up with a new one. I'm just not finding many in a 100 mile radius of here. This one was about 150 miles away. The owner was passing thru here so he dropped it off but he will pick it up on his way back. I found another one 120 miles the other way but the guy wanted new price for a 2 year old trailer.

The 15" wheels are fine for me, I want to keep the height down some for loading the camper.

How about keeping the one you have for camper use, and buying a dedicated equipment trailer for your tractor needs?

That's the direction I'm going. I have an 18' car trailer that is too short and too light duty for my tractor needs. I plan to keep it to actually haul cars and light duty stuff, and looking into 26-28' deckover goosenecks for my tractoring needs. Then I don't have to worry about the high approach angles on a deckover for trying to load cars, and have a large enough deck I can load my tractor with brush hog and FEL, plus have room for another implement or 2 in front.

Not exactly. You can pin the ramps upright and still utilize that space. You can lift the FEL up and drive all the way forward, flip the ramps down, and then backup. You can't load a 23 foot long pickup on my 20ft deck trailer and then flip the ramps down level. You can pun the ramps upright and still haul the 23ft long pickup. This is coming from a satisfied big tex mega ramp owner. Although mine is a GN deck over.
