Kubota 7510. I throttle down and let the engine slow the PTO down, then clutch disengaged, let implement wind itself down.

Then I do the most IMPORTANT PART: stay on the tractor seat until PTO comes to a complete stop. I will never get off the seat with the PTO shaft spinning. Then shut off engine to prevent any restart until I am back in the seat. I have read too many horror stories about getting clothing caught in a PTO shaft turning. Any PTO operated equipment will still generate a lot of inertia and get me killed.

Thank you everyone for your answers. As I have predicted, different steps from different people demonstrating different level of "mechanical sympathy " to achieve the same result, to turn off the PTO.

Official answer from Kubota just came into my Inbox. I still wish it was in the operating manual as clear as the reply from Kubota.

From Kubota:

Daniel, I assume you are talking about the rear pto. There are 2 disconnects on the pto system on your tractor.

The first one is at the back of the engine and is worked by your foot clutch pedal. When stepping down on the clutch pedal, it stops the transmission from turning. This includes the pto system as well.

The second one is the machanical linkage that is operated by the handle to the right of your seat. There is no clutch here. It is just mechanical linkage.

To stop the pto. You should first bring the engine rpm down to a idle. You can than step on the clutch pedal that will stop the pto from turning. When the pto stops turning. You can than disengage the pto mechanical linkage by the handle to the right of your seat.

Thank you for conntacting Kubota Tractor Corp..

I have a 3301. Few mods posted here on a different thread. Currently at 150 hours.

I do this exactly also. With a 5 ft Landpride rotary cutter and a 6 ft Mott flail mower.
Clutch in, let PTO spin down all the way, turn PTO off, adjust throttle if needed and off I go.

Per the guys here, I adjusted my rear wheels out to max width (R1s). Best thing I ever did as I live on slopes.

I enjoy mine. To the point it's near an obsession. Just got home from being gone for 4 months. Tractor didn't make a full revolution starting before starting up.
