The more bite force the better though. The CTL grapple bites WAY harder than my tractor grapple. It has everything in its favor, bigger cylinders better geometry, and 3500 psi hydraulics. It's very useful having more bite pressure.

If you were paying attention, I was correcting the guy that thought "more clamping force, per lid" up in post 2293. A lid doesn't put out more pressure by adding a second lid. You are simply putting pressure in two places instead of one, but the amount of pressure remains the same for each.

I thought that's what I was kinda getting at....More force over the entire load being carried...or rather, securing the load in more places than one...

More is only better to the point of being sufficient. Overkill can have drawbacks as well. Why haven't you given your tractor and tractor grapple to some sorta charity if there is no longer a need for it?

I think the pricing is within reason for a quality grapple.

I'm having trouble deciding between a 55" or 73" width for an M7060. I have decided I'd like the dual lid, however.

Don't let me or anyone else keep you from buying the grapple you want. If your buying an EA grapple reasonably sized for your tractor you just won.

It would be silly to hang a 1,000lbs grapple off a small tractor. The few pounds difference due to width and number of lids on a Wicked is a very small detail to get hung up on. Most operators won't be able to use those few pounds difference enough times to make any difference. Here again, comparing EA Wickeds.

According to EA's chart for a 71 hp tractor grapple your looking at 38 lbs difference in the 55" vs 73" and $45 dollars difference. Can you tell the difference of 38 lbs on your bucket? Neither can anyone else. Get the one you want.

What I do see is the 55" dual lid has the lids contacting at the outer tines. Depending on your uses that may or may not be a worth while feature.

It is a fun decision to make!

Wasn't disputing you, just agreeing with 4570Man.

Over kill on the grapple to machine ratio is definitely possible. I'm not sure at what point bite force would be overkill. I wouldn't complain if I could split logs with the grapple teeth. I'm not much of a fan of so called charities. A donation of that scale will never happen from me. Pretty much the only thing the tractor grapple does better is not destroy grass.

oh man this is too much...

I think in order for us to REALLY figure out what size grapple and how many "lids" would be best, is to have all of them available to try, and use them for the same given task we would need to complete...IE: move these logs, or this pile of brush in this area, to over here, using this grapple....now do the same task with another grapple that's narrower, or has one lid, or wider with 2 lids...etc etc... we will never have that option, so I say ANY grapple is good, as long as you HAVE a grapple!!

I don't know man, I think were splitting hairs.

Who ever complained about inadequate bite force?? The biggest rock I ever pulled out of the ground and could barely lift to transport was clamped by a single tine! And, with this style of grapple the lids main job is simply to keep the load from falling forward, gravity and the bottom tines do the serious work for the vast majority of loads.

According to EA's chart for a 71 hp tractor grapple your looking at 38 lbs difference in the 55" vs 73" and $45 dollars difference. Can you tell the difference of 38 lbs on your bucket? Neither can anyone else. Get the one you want.

The difference in weight between the EA single lid Wicked 54" and the double lid 72" is considerably more than on the inaccurate chart on their website. If you take their chart seriously then two lids weigh the same as one. Travis has some work to do to fix that rather egregious error on their chart. I would guesstimate based on lifting my 18" lid that an extra 27" lid plus cylinder add about 60-70 lbs anyways. And, that weight is more than a foot in front of the pins so functionally closer to 100lbs off the net lift capacity. Maybe Travis can weigh a lid plus cylinder to confirm.

And, going from 54 to 72 certainly has a weight penalty too. Not sure their chart is accurate but even that shows an 86lb difference which again is mostly forward of the pivot pins so functionally subtracts maybe an additional 125lbs from net lift capacity.

Using these "corrected" weights, a tractor with the 54" single could lift about 225lbs more than a 72" double. Pretty substantial weight penalty if you ask me.

Difference in price is way more than you indicated too. Single 54 sells for $1690. Double 54 costs $300 more. Double 72 costs about $450 more than the single 54.

Quite a cost AND lift capacity penalty if you ask me.

And, the weights listed on their bigger 75 hp grapples are BS too. No way does a 73 weigh only 37lbs more than a 55". As for cost, they are losing money on every 73 compared to 55 as you cannot buy the extra steel involved for $45.

PS: Hey Travis, we've pointed out inaccurate weights on your grapple chart before, when will that be fixed?

Yeah what's 200+lbs of lift and a paltry $500 to a real man. Might as well get the 84" custom triple lid so everyone appreciates the size of your cojones.

I thought my grapple clamped sufficiently until I used the big one.

Billions of super-fleas with huge penises are set to invade British bedrooms this autumn.

Far bigger than 'normal' fleas, a new breed has emerged which has a ***** two and a half times the length of its body - the largest genitalia relative to size of any bug on the planet.

Now, with autumn approaching and the nights drawing in, they are about to hop indoors to relax in our centrally-heated homes.

Conditions for flea breeding have been ideal with a warm summer and the right amount of rain and damp.

The new flea breed is believed to have emerged come from Europe over th past three years.

My hobby? I'm not the one drawn to articles about bugs with oversized male parts? . Where is a middle finger emoji when you need one?

Well you wrote that you had "so many fleas to circumcise". I figured you were grappling that task, I did not bring up the subject. :D. Dumb joke I guess. My bad

Yep, lets get back to something important like 38 lbs and $45 dollars. Oh and how many lids! :stirthepot:

Never mind operator skill. :drink:

We need different colors to discuss too Ted!! Do I get tractor color or standard black?? OMG the drama we could create!!!! :cool2:

I just ordered one yesterday and they have a 8 week back log on orders to manufacture.
They must be pretty good to be selling so many!
