Bought a 2012 5093E with no radio installed..Housing is up top in right rear of cab...Are speakers and wiring already in place? How can I install one myself and which model will fit?

Yes. If you pull off the front cover to the radio housing you should find the antenna wire, radio harness, and possibly a another black wire (the ground). On my 5055E I had to cut the black wire and splice it to the radio for the ground, as the harness had no ground. My 5085E didn't have a ground wire at all in the housing so I had to use one of the cab bolts as the ground...

Anyway get you a 88-99 Volkswagon harness, it's only a couple of bucks, and it fits the JD harness.

Most any standard stereo will fit.. I use Pioneer's with no problem.

How did you wire your antennae?

Is there an antennae cable in the compartment? There should be one there.

Outside above the right hand door there should be a little mount jutting out of the top of the cab. An antenna screws in there.

Exactly. Use the VW adaptor harness that you can buy at Best Buy or order online. It is basically as easy as matching the wires from the stereo to the harness crimp them and plug and play. How I did mine was to drop the radio box down off the cab and mounted the stereo in it and then plugged everything up and used one of the 4 mounting bolts for my ground, because the ground they give you sometimes does not work. The speakers are already up in there, but I switched mine out to Polk Audios. The are much brighter and sound much cleaner than the paper ones they put in there. I put an Alpine head unit in it with a USB port and a 1/8th inch stereo in plug. It cost less than 100 bucks at Best Buy. It is was rated at 25watts/channel, but it probably only has 10 which is enough in that tractor. It sounds great. I was using my iPod in there, but it was always bouncing around, so I just a 2 gig jump drive and loaded it full of music and I leave it in there all the time and never misses a beat.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the info and links in this post. Got a much -used 5093e Limited and followed your discussion. Now enjoy. Pioneer MVH-X381BT. SIDE NOTE; previous home owner left Bose Accustimaster speakers hanging on wall. They're back in service in the tractor. Thanks!0629172049c.jpg

This is the JD PLUG That receives the VW/AUDI harness described above. To my my surprise I found power, antenna, ground and 2 speakers factory pre-wired. Easy DIY with info provided by previous posters. Thanks.
