Grapples ROCK! ARs not so much. Best AR isn't an AR. It's an AR lower with an AK styled upper... :stirthepot:

I'll bite, no pun intended. What's the consensus of the best wicked grapple for a john Deere 3520 with 300cx loader? A page or two back shows a 3520 but unsure of the grapple size??? I'm thinking 60, but the wicked compact 50 looks nice since its soooo light. Are the base "L" tines the same length on the compact 50 and the wicked 60???

Also any chance of buying it in pieces and welding it together? I thought I read about that some time ago, but haven't heard back from EA about this. EA's is top notch, but it comes with a $price$. Kicking rolling the dice with Titan to simply save some coin... As I doubt I'd wear a grapple out--// although it would be nice to know its going to work and hook up out of the box. I know about their rep, but I am trying to stay on budget!!! Lol

The Compact 50 would be a great match. I do wish the opening were a bit wider but it is otherwise just about perfect for any tractor under 3000lbs weight. It is very well designed and built and lots of folks have had good luck with them. You can see a video of the grapple being abused on a Bobcat CT120 on the EA website.

The Titan is a decent grapple with just a standard design and standard construction. I haven't checked the prices of the two recently though I know the EA is more bucks. I'd still go for the EA if budget allows. The upper jaw is by far the best in the compact grapple world. The Titan upper is just a traditional upper like the one on my Millonzi which does work but isn't as wide or nicely constructed.

Well that is pretty simple too. For low end AR15's I like DPMS. For high end I like Daniel Defense. Which ones do you like? Oh, and do you prefer direct impingement gas systems or operating rod?

James, I'm thinking that I'd prefer to be armed with a good grapple when going toe to toe with Mother Nature. I prefer direct mechanical hydraulic impingement of stumps rather than gas. And, operating rods don't handle brush as well as good grapple either.;)

I looked at a Titan as I'm near the factory. It's well made, but the Wicked grapple from EA is a cut above. I have a background in fabrication an the Titan is like something I would have made myself, the EA is more rugged and the precision in assembly is impressive.

I'll second the comments above. The Titan is a serviceable unit, but if you can swing it the EA is worth it.

I will have to admit, that was a clever comeback...

Piston style is lower maintenance.

Somebody must like Faxon if they like an AK upper on an AR lower.

I have a 3320 and a Millonzi like Island Tractor. It is a 48" single jaw. I have been very happy with. Would like more lift capacity, so the lighter the better. If I ever get to move up in tractor size, I would probably get the EA 50"

That is my post a few back. I bought the 56" single lid. I know plenty of people say the 50" is strong enough and it probably is but the 56" is still super light at 350lbs. It is actually lighter than my pallet forks. I don't know what your application is so I won't comment on width. I will tell you that the grapple is light enough where I was able to fit as many oak logs in it as I could shut the jaw around and the loader didn't even care.

I agree that 350lbs is still a reasonable grapple weight so long as your loader can lift 1500lbs or more. Hate to see grapple weight cut net lift to less than a half ton because you can pretty easily get that much wood into a grapple. What is the opening width of the jaws? Is the 56" made with 5/16" high strength or 3/8" mild steel? How much more does it cost than the 50" compact?

I see a 54 inch single lid "wicked" with 3/8 A572 steel and the opening width is 7 inches wider than the compact 50 inch like I have. So 37 inches instead of 30. The weight is given at 349 lbs in their chart. Which is about 75 lbs more than mine. The single lid 54 inch is $1690 and the 50 inch compact is $1492.

I received this feedback over the weekend. He has our 50" Wicked Grapple on a Kubota L35 TLB.

"All good so far. Loving this size grapple over the big heavy one I used to have. Thanks!"

Thanks for doing the legwork James. Looks like either the 54 or 50 inch would make sense for a Kioti CK. I'd probably go with the 54 on a DK or NX. Having a wider opening is useful.

The good news is I got my 50 inch before the price increase. :cool2:

I have a 60" single lid. Works great on the L4330. Think I'm going to paint the outside tines safety yellow. It will be easier to see, and keep track of when manuvering in tight areas.

That isn't a bad idea...

Good idea.

Kubota Orange might be almost as visible as safety yellow but would complement your tractor. Either way, post some pics.

Good thought. I'm all about the orange, but this time I am thinking something completely different so it doesn't blend in. Final color TBD. Painted pics will follow.

Here are a couple recent, new and not quite new. IMG_4930.JPGIMG_5902.JPG
