Glad you decided to make us part of your build. Sorry you feel the way you do about this site. Would you care to walk us through the foundation pictures? How deep are your footers and all.

Also what are you doing to make a 3/4 bath? I've heard of full and half but never a 3/4.

Sounds like you have a plan. Good.

I hear ya on several of your comments... I could not post a house build here but REALLY glad other people do!! I have a house build blog going on but it's mainly so I can remember what and how things were done.

So here's a big old THANKS for posting yours!!!

I didn't mean to offend. TBN is a great site and there's a bunch of good people on here. I've learned a lot on here and enjoyed many threads and conversations. Thank you, thank you for those experiences.

What I meant in my last post was that I'm going to be upfront and I will be selective with the advise I heed. I don't know you guys and gals any more than you know me. I think there are a lot of well-intentioned, knowledgeable, skilled, and experience folks on here. I also think there are a lot of folks that don't have all or any of those attibutes. We all have different wants and needs, so what you think is right isn't always going to be the be best fit for me. Now that I think of it, I think that's why I'm restarting this thread after the building is started. Too late to change the plans in any major way. It is what it is. Good or bad.

That said, my family is super excited to be moving forward with this. I'll try to take you along for the ride. Thank you in advance for comments and suggestions.

Amen and thanks for the empathy. I'm trying to edit/caption the pictures in my earlier post....Had to switch to the desktop browser.

Footings look good. Curious when you put your utilities in? I've never seen anybody pour concrete before the drain pipes where in place before. Will you be running electricity under ground? Will the kitchen have an island and need power and water to it through the slab?

Eddie

I'm following your plans and progress here, as I plan some building out in my existing barn.

I'll be posting a separate thread of my own.

That's a good question. I've never seen this before but They're putting sleeves in the walls for sewer, water, electric. Yes there will be electric in the island but not water.

Will the floor be poured with the rest of the footer?

I worked for my dad as a kid pouring mostly rural residential foundations. We did that all the time with sleeves. A generic location we would put it close on the nearest tie and fill the sleeve (PVC pipe)
with mud/clay. Sometimes it had to be more a precise location and we had ways of doing that too.

Thank you for posting your build. It is quite an undertaking! Combining house and shop into a single building will work out great for you. Southern exposure for the house, with a view, will pay it's dividends in no time!
If I understand well, your porch has a full footing and concrete wall? I am wondering if it would have been possible to build it with embeded posts only?
You seem to have a good general contractor. Foundation prep and pouring took no time, and the job looks real good!
Great start!!
