As anybody who has ever used Armor-All on their seat knows, I used the power of Armor-All to make wiring harnesses slide through the rubber grommets.

Things are slowly going back together. The thing to know is to index any Kioti switches before disconnecting them. They are not indexed very well and it is possible to shove them back together backward.

removing knob with wrench.jpg

Here is how to remove rubber friction fit knob tips:
DO NOT pull on them. The harder you pull the tighter the fit.
Get a large adjustable wrench, you will be using the sharp 90 degree side of the wrench to "pop" them off from the underside.
Adjust the wrench to just barely clear the metal lever just under the rubber knob.
Pull up on the wrench, and the knob will pop off nearly effortlessly.

It is looking like a tractor again. WD40 sprayed on the grommet will let the wires slide through too.

That sounds way better than waving a .40 cal around while shouting, One of these days, straight to the moon, Alice!

Thanks for the know-how tip!

James, my thanks as well. This is great to know. It's like a Chinese finger puzzle! I was able to get my left fender cover off (to route wiring) without pulling the knob on the the range selector lever. But your technique would have been easier.

Give it a try, I sure worked for me on my Kioti SCV knob. I tried pulling on it, and it stretched some but I never could pull it off, and I was afraid of breaking or bending something. but it practically jumped off with this technique.

James technique must be the way as last week, I tried pulling the headliner in order to run wires and the little, red vent knob prevented me from doing so. Today, I lifted the cab cap in order to run those same wires and it refused to lift very far because of the same little, evil, red cap on the vent. And so I pushed in a 2x4 in order to hold things up enough for me to fiddle. somewhere during the day, the little red cap took off on its own. Thankfully I had the doors of the cab closed and I found it again. Until James offered his removal technique, I looked at the red cap and was baffled why I could not pull it off but it could pop off on its own.

I owe you a beer, James. I never have run into this on cars or light trucks.
