Need help deciding on a grapple

Man, that Gorilla Grapple looks like one seriously overbuilt (in a good way!) piece of equipment. If I had something with the power of your Compact Telehandler, I'd want one of those grapples.
Telehandlers are much bigger!

This is why I got it:

My first clamshell style grapple would not penetrate a cedar tree because of the bracing between the tines. To pick it up, you had to maneuver around to get the grapple parallel to the trunk.

My second grapple is the ideal design (no bracing between the tines) to penetrate the cedar tree from any any angle, and pick it up. Much faster when stacking trees.

44" wide, single lid.

Will grab a big cedar from any angle.

N
o bracing between the tines allows it to grab it in line with the trunk.

Pulled this dead, leaning over willow tree.

Handles the big long time dead, long trees also.

crane scale, found it on eBay.

Could you hook it to a tree and pull against it to see how much something would pull as long as you did not exceed the scales max weight? Or the tree doesn't break!

Yes, in fact I was going to do that with my Polaris EV, just to find out what it would do.
Well, since this thread is derailed, I will post this experiment.

I decided to find out how much drawbar pull the EV has. I hooked the crane scales to what was left of a small tree at the edge of the pond. The beavers had chewed through it many years ago, but it was still growing.

As I started pulling in turf mode, I could feel the left rear tire slip, then the right rear slip. I switched to AWD and the chain tightened again, but even though the the wheels were spinning a little, I was moving forward. I stopped, got out and took a picture.

The tree roots were coming out of the ground!

This is the surface that I was on.

I went ahead and pulled it all the way out.

If anyone asks me "how much can it pull?", for now I will say "enough"

Now maybe shibaura_4043 will come back an get this back on track with an update :D

Going to have to wait until it warms up some. Yesterday winter arrived, high was 61, dropped to 30 at midnight.

Now it is: Overcast 28, Humidity 72%, Wind Speed N 13 G 22 mph, Wind Chill 17.

did you guys ever see this tree saw grapple it would clear alot of weed trees quick
Tractor Saw - YouTube

Interesting. However, I bet it is quite expensive and as it doesn't take the stump out there is the issue of regrowth or if the tree dies then potential potholes for horses or cattle to fall in. I can see it might be useful for someone clearing acres of small trees but think just a FEL mounted grapple would be less money and a grapple plus backhoe ripper would be more flexible with bigger trees.
