Sheetrock guy is coming out today. He said that this is a local requirement, not the code and we can come to some "understanding" about it. I am sure he will try to charge some nominal fee. :( Still better than me taking time out to get sheetrock and do it myself. He knows we want it done by tomorrow to have reinspect Thursday.

I was wondering about that. I have never seen that done. You may need to add some blocking under the stairs. It may be worth taking a look before he shows up and refuses to hang rock on the bottom of those stairs.

It's apparently a common enough requirement by inspectors that the framers already had 2x4 blocking nailed across the stringers at approx 20" centers so rock could be put there. Sheet rock guy came already today to look at it and will be back tomorrow to put it in.

We have a CO!!! :cool2: :cool2:

It may be a temporary CO, but we can move in tomorrow!! The grading is done but the temporary becomes permanent when they see grass growing to stabilize the soil.

In the meantime, we will finish the baseboards, door and window casings after we take a few days breather and enjoy the labor day weekend. Appropriately named too.

Enjoy the holiday, everyone.

Maybe this applies:

What a feeling (from Flashdance)

First, when there's nothing but a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide deep inside your mind
All alone I have cried, silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel, made of stone

Well, I hear the music close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart

What a feeling, being's believin'
I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life
Take your passion and make it happen
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life

Lyrics from eLyrics.net

Congrats Tom & Family!

Well, one last post. We only had the temporary CO until we had some grass growing to stabilize the soil. Here are some final pics to bring in the fall colors also.

Thanks guys for all of the feedback and advice through this process.

PS. In the final pic, the ledger is up around the fireplace in anticipation of a deck in the spring.

Tom, great job on the house, looks very nice. One quick question, what is the plastic oval piece on the rear of the house to the left of the downspout? Stanley

Stanley, that is the air intake and exhaust for the furnace.
