Well darn! NOAA said 40% chance of rain today, so even then, I watered the garden hoping to get some rain later this afternoon. I come in and check the NOAA site and now it's down to 20%:mur: May be a blessing though, these storms are supposed to have "violent" tendencies:laughing: Weatherman said "storms that develop ""will be severe"", so..........

Put out half the Semaspore yesterday, didn't want to use it all if it was going to rain. I will see how it does, or if I can tell any difference.

Okra coming up nicely too, for the 2nd time:laughing:

Please don't call the safety police, but last week I was mowing on my rider and put my 30lb 3 year old boy in my lap. He was having a great time until about 40 minutes into the job, he feel asleep. :)

Won't have me calling on ya! I was in my dad's lap on the tractor until I was old enough to reach the pedals myself. And there was never a better bond between parent and child than what we had. I miss him still, even after all of these years. I think it is WONDERFUL that he gets to ride with you! And with that precious cargo, I know you'll be safe!

Western; Still calling for 40% on NOAA and Weatherbug, for today, and 50% chance for tonight. Of course, I will water my garden, this evening too! Still calling for severe stuff. Looks like some showers to the northwest of us all on the radar right now.

Only 20% for my zip code, but you know how that goes. I see on NOAA there is a tornado near Brownwood.

Oklahoma has got ravaged today. I was watching FOX news when they showig the bad weather and the Tornado started to develop right there on live TV! in Moore Oklahoma , man those poor folks got hammered.

I have lots of family in the Norman/Moore/Newcastle and also Edmond. So far, they are all safe, but they have friends who've lost their homes. This is an encore performance for Moore from 1999.

Glad your family is safe, Jim. I have a cousin who is OKC today, but used to live in Moore many years ago; said he went to the 5th grade in that school that was destroyed.

Kathy's youngest son, Bryan, just became a full paramedic in Norman. He just happens to be in Eastern Okla on vacation. They are calling him back because of the sudden need for emergency help.

We can certainly understand the need for emergency help. He'll probably be working some long hours, too, for the next few days, and quite possibly see some sights that we all hope to never see.

Jim, I believe that 1999 tornado set the world record for wind speed.

Jim,
Time to buy a little pair of overalls, a cap, and a pair of gloves. Then take the cutie pie out to the garden and put a little shovel in his hands! God Bless Grandchildren!
hugs, Brandi

My heart goes out to those hit in Oklahoma. They seem to get more than their share of severe weather. I remember driving through on my way to a show a few years ago, and seeing the devastation, weeks after clean up was complete. I'll never forget how levelled everything was.

Death toll rising (50+), man that one was awefull and they had 30 minutes advanced warning! Just speaks to thee power in some of the storms.

I am getting a pretty hard rain right now, small storm, but good rain.

Ended up with .43 in the gauge:dance1: Not a ton, but unexpected and no real bad weather!

I haven't posted here for a while ... got pretty intense here. The iphone advised take immediate shelter. It turned black, quiet and then rain and about 45-50 mph winds (I believe) ... then all of a sudden the sky just turned bright orange ??? I've heard trees down and a couple roofs missing. I see no damage here.

Can not believe the pictures coming in from Moore ... I have friends in that area that are okay with damage to property ... Its terrible.

I ended up with a 60% chance in the forecast for this afternoon. I expect that percentage to decline as time goes on.

No rain here, but then, no severe weather either.

Thought that one line that got Hamilton was going to get Oglesby but nothing. Weather service says 80% chance today. We need the rain, tanks are still down allot.

I watched that little cell approaching early last evening when the tornado was reported in Bellevue and heading for Nocona and St. Jo. As it approached us, the storm seemed to weaken as it approached the heavier storm north of us. Finally, it came by just to our northwest and dropped enough rain to wet our decks. Our gages didn't even know it was raining.

I saw the later storm that moved across the southern part of Wise Co. and I was thinking you probably got a better shower than me, Dennis. I'm hoping for a little shower today since I cut my grass yesterday and noticed I would soon need to be watering if no showers in the next couple of days.

I'm trying to get my garden fully weeded before the rain. I'm running my little 'gas-a-hoe' between rows to knock down any weeds before they get big and also loosen the soil so rain soaks in instead of running off. Here's a photo my wife took of me running the gas-a-hoe several weeks ago when I was preparing blackeyed pea rows for planting. This thing came with wheels, but it works much better with them off in my opinion. I can till, weed, or dig holes with it this way. When weeding, I move it back and forth just like using a floor buffer.

Blueriver, also glad to see you post!, I was wondering about you guys yesterday, I knew you where way East of Moore, but the storms where going Easterly.

I watered yesterday morning a good amount in the garden, by 4pm it felt dry down to 2-3 inches!! Must have been the wind combined with the dry line, dont know, but it dried out quick!!!!! As I said before, for some reason IMO, mother natures rain seems more palatable to plants. I think all I accomplished watering yesterday is a "slip-n-slide" theme park for the moles:laughing: Even my St Augustine seems to prefer rain over well water, the Bermuda will drink darn near anything that isn't 120 proof:drink::D

I will be on "Code red alert" today:laughing: With the forecast track ( computer weather models) we stand a significant chance of severe weather here in N. Texas. Not having a storm shelter, or should I say neglecting it since last summer, I think it's time for me to get off my rear and order the FEMA, or IC500 plans. I took the FEMA Emergency Management class in 1989-90 and I know "after" a storm is not the time to wish you had a shelter, providing your still alive.
