you dont need a cdl IN PA for a trailer over 10k if its for your own use i checked the law 6 way to sunday non commerical
<rant>Ditto, Lets not start the CDL, no CDL bs again. If your scared get the license. Don't preach to everyone else about it. </end rant>
Currently in PA however, and correct me if i'm wrong, if you are over 17k GCW, you need a medical card. Lets face something else. Majority of people on here are non-commercial and dont need a cdl with a half ton truck pulling a 10k trailer with their stuff. The people running dually's are pretty serious about towing and don't need a lecture about it.
I didn't mean to start something...![]()
I started to write a bit more, but I think I'd better not step in any more doo-doo than I already have.
Yes, kind of. You really need to weigh it. Most 12k ttrailers are closer to 3k empty.
Chris
dstacy,
sounds like you already know the answer to that. The deck length has nothing to do with it. Its stopping the load. Everyone wants to talk about how much horsepower their rig has, but that's only for bragging. If someone pulled out in front of you, would you feel confident that you could stop the truck trailer and tractor in a hurry and not kill someone? I towed my 5083E with a 2005 3500 dodge SRW with a cummins and a 6 speed. Did I haul it everywhere I wanted, Yes. Did it pucker my *** during a panic stop, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT. You can load it in such a way to keep the weight off the truck, but the brakes are the brakes. I wont tell you it can't be done, but I would suggest not doing it often.
I'm not really sure what your question is though?
