Glad to have the work Jim, just tired of being gone all the time, but as you say, I'm glad to be getting paid.

Brakes done, was a snap just changing the whole assembly on 4 wheels:thumbsup: Now to mow the yard before it gets warm.

Glad you guys are getting some decent rain this year.
Last year we were drowning in rain in June.
This year we have received 0.50 total all in one rainy day for the past
26 days. Temp going to 90's again in a couple days and only 20% chance
of rain 2 days next week.
"It's beginning to look a lot like Texas, everywhere you go"

I can't sing, but I think the song is suppossed to be: "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" not Texas :D

How hot is it?
It's so hot the Blue Heron stood this way for an hour today cooling his wings while the frogs croaked at him.:)

Ron, not everywhere is getting the big rain numbers down here. Many people had 3-4 inch rains this last event, but I got only 1-1/2". It's hard to fill ponds when you can't keep the ones you already have full. I'm not complaining too much though. My yard is green and in need of mowing this morning without my having to put a drop of water onto it. Anytime I have a green lawn in June without sprinklers, it's a great month. Sorry for your drought and heat. We sure can identify with that. We have two gray herons and two big white ones on our lake.

June is starting out as the coolest on record. Lots of rain and temps barely hitting the 90's with a couple days that never got out of the 80's. Mother Nature has a way of balancing it out. Gives us one hot year, then the next year it's cooler. One dry year, and then a wet year to make up for it. I bet that in ten years when we look back at last year, it will be a bump on a graph that isn't all that remarkable, just like how cool this year has been wont be all that special either.

Jim,
It's just our turn in the weather cycle. My pond is lower now than it was in September last year. Wheat, oats, hay were all a month early for harvest this year. The prediction for corn is bad, but it usually is regardless of the weather, this time of year. Gives the future's traders something to be on the phone about.
Haven't seen any new pond construction pictures from you in a while?
I'm going out to work in the shade of the woods. She if I can get some chiggers:(

I had intended to wait until Monday, but Monday is supposed to be even hotter than today, and the yards really needed mowing. So nearly 2 hours with the string trimmer and almost an hour on the ZTR this morning just to do our yard and the one next door. Just about wore me out.

Mowed mine yesterday:thumbsup: I still have the road frontage to do, then "on the road again"

Jim, Not dragging hoses around this summer must have you "looking" for things to do with all your "free" time:D:laughing: Is is a different summer so far and thankful for it too.

Thursday nights storm left us with 4.5 inches in the rain gage. The pond was down over 3 feet and when I got home Friday morning, it was in overflow. By the looks of the the debris downstream of the overflow pipe, it was severe overflow, but all is good. No seeps around the dam at all today. Yippee. Darn I forgot to take photos. Maybe tomorrow.
hugs, Brandi

We had a nice cooling rain shower last night after a day when our temperature got up to 104F. Whew! It was hot. Anyhow, we picked up 1/10" overnight and it was 68F this morning. The next round of storms seems to be way out in Childress, so I should have time today to get more outside work done.

We got 3/10ths and your right Jim, the temperature yesterday was awful combined with the humidity.

I head out tonight to Hereford Texas, hopefully it will be dry when I get there. Then on to Colorado and N. Mexico. Hoping the wildfires they are experiencing doesn't interfere with my schedule.

I remember when the space shuttle crashed over East Texas, you couldn't find a motel room for miles since guvment employees took them all. Incidentally at one motel we found, they had raised their price for the searchers from $55 per night to over $100. Clerk told me this himself, I told him that was gouging the taxpayer and was BS to take advantage of a tragedy like that.

I also got 1/10" overnight. I noticed the Channel 4 weatherman this morning mentioned that yesterday was the hottest day so far this year. And yesterday afternoon, I went outside with my infrared thermometer and found 95 to 98 degrees around my patio in the shade, 125 degree concrete on the driveway, and 133 degrees on the bricks on the west side of the house.

And it's still 8 more days until Summer officially begins.
