Well.....reading thru my owners manual, I saw a recommendation for rear ballast. If ballast is added to the rear tires, they recommend a max of 850lbs for a rear attachment......so perhaps I should dial down my requirements....

Frank,

What is you FEL lift capacity?

My TSG-50 is like 860lbs I think and not enough for my ballast needs.

David -

Yes, I definitely see your point, the loader lift capacity is #2500....so when I load the tires, around 1100 or 1200....800 lbs would leave me a bit short of equalization. Not that I know it has to be exactly equal?
Seems like it says for tire capacity.....my only concern would be voiding the warranty in the event of tire failure, for not following the recommendation. But....they HAVE to be building a safety margin in there.....

I'd be interested to hear TBN comments on this issue, hopefully without starting another thread. ..?

Best advice I can give is to follow the manual recommendations. You don't need so much 3PH ballast that the front wheels are too light when the bucket is empty. Also note the bucket is closer to the front axle than the rear ballast box by a good margin.

Time to bump this thread.
Getting close to spring, and I'm getting the itch to get out and do some tractoring.
I've decided to go with a 78 or 84" box, preferably gannon or modern, as they make the heavy duty boxes. I'm currently in the process of installing dual rear remotes, (2 sets) so if I could find a deal on a used hydraulic box I would go that route.

As for use....I initially indicated I would be using the BB for "ballast" for front end work, which is true.....BUT....I will also be doing quite a bit of trail prep, and land leveling/dirt moving, thus my aforementioned choice.

I've been searching Ebay, CL, auction sites, etc, and can't seem to find any deals. Anyone have any leads where I should be looking?

Frank,

Bump...

I've not seen Modern yet, but I am aware of the Gannon (It is on my list also). I've already got 2 rear remotes, but I think I'd rather use them for Top & Tilt vs. HYD Box Blade.

When you find a secret source, please tell me if not all of us.

Be well sir.

Hey David -

Does the top & tilt use more than 2 remotes? I am definitely comtemplating the tnt and the hyd blade.....I've got a total or 4 rear remotes after I get it hooked up....

I've got one implement place in mind, and have ur # if I see something for you.....:D
