Thanks S/A, will try that. Going to get some thinner wall pipe now and try some tigging. Somehow I fear, I am not destined to be a tigmeister..

Hopefully you will have the time to learn. There are probably some vids on youtube that could help you out. When you are welding notched pipe it is hard to make it look good with a mig. you have to start and stop to many times to get in position. With a tig you can start and stop as many times as you want and won't be able to tell. One thing that I have learned that helps me while tiging is a magnifying lens in my hood. This could also be because my eye sight isn't as good as it use to be..

If they did they did a poor job. I think they copied the jigger, which IMO is a downgrade to the nicer woodward or JD2 notchers.

Your right! The clones look more like the Joint Jigger.

Its hard to beat JD2. Their benders are among the best as well

Oh, you can do it old school, DC with helium. Here's one I did years ago.

Shield Arc, can you expand on that a little? I have been told you can't weld aluminum with DC, but obviously that's wrong. Thanks.

When Linde invented Tig welding aluminum it was called Heliarc, and this is how it was originally done.

Hopefully you can read all this, it will explain better than I ever could!

Nice notcher. I made one a few years back and it gets used allot. It's heavy and has no chatter while being used. The down side is it took me two days to build it but it will last a lifetime and it was a fun project.

Well, anybody else we'd let slide Paul, but you have to post a picture.

I spent all afternoon checking out benders. It's scary on the internet, almost spent way too much (for my skill level..) ordered a HF.
