You'll need to get a Tig Rig one of these days, now that you have a DC welder. ;)

If only that didnt cost so much. The reg and torch are not too bad, it is the tank that is the issue.

It is strange how in different places the tanks are a PITA! I own all my tanks, well I have a leased 330 cf bottle of 90/10 right now to just play with some spray arc. But the tanks I own, I never get the same tank back. All I have to do is make sure the kid doesn't give me a tank without a "P" on it. I don't have to pay for testing either.

I think it is the same here. I own my O/A tanks. I will have to check how much an argon tank will cost me. I would likely buy a small one. (40cf ish)

Tig welding steel and stainless steel, you can run your argon bottle down to nothing, but welding aluminum when the bottle gets low it will mess up your weld. So when doing aluminum work a bigger bottle is nice, because you're not going to get all the argon out.

Well with my dc only, I dont think I will really have to worry about aluminum for now.:thumbsup: Unless I rig up high freq for my tombstone.....

Oh, you can do it old school, DC with helium. Here's one I did years ago.

I hear due to the shortage the pure helium you need for that costs an arm and a leg. It doesnt really matter to me, I almost never work with aluminum. In the rare case I do need to join aluminum, I could just get some of those aluminum brazing rods.

Tried this out yesterday, great tool.. first couple cuts here to make legs for a tripod to hold it. I set it on 50*, the max, and cut the other end 40* flat on the bandsaw for the feet. I think it's going to come in handy as a pipe vise too, for holding stuff in general. 2" sched 40 (?) 2 1/2" hole saw.

I do a lot of tube notching for roll cages in race cars. That is one verry nice notcher. A lot better than my old Jointjigger. Where did you get it from. Milwaukee has some hole saws that are called ICE. I have had great luck with them. They last a lot longer than a standard bi metal hole saw.

Exactly what I was thinking. They say the success of a mans life is measured by how many tools he has at his death.

I was just kidding about selling it, first couple tries were not very successful.
It's probably gonna be more time consuming with the practice than I can devote to it, to learn it right anyway, I'll just plod along with it when I can.
