Seat time versus Chainsaw time

Wife used to say I was 'playing' when I was out...working... But I got her a gt245 when I upgraded to a 3730 and now apparently it's 'work' to mow the lawn???

I love the chainsaw, especially with all those trees, logs and firewood I cut by hand in my life. Chainsaw is just amazing how fast it can get things done and I also admire the engineering part of the tool.

But chainsaws scare the bejesus out of me - I will not avoid them, but it is always on my mind.

I guess I value seat time more.

As much as I like riding the tractor, using the backhoe and fel, I really like to cut wood. The scream of a well-tuned chainsaw, the feel of the saw as a well-sharpened chain bites into fresh timber, the smell of mixture burning combined with with sweet aroma of wood chips all combined with the sights and sounds of the living forest.

Although I don't do it as much now as I have in the past, I still enjoy it. It brings back fond memories of friends departed.

I've been trying to convince the wife we need to get another wood stove. We took the last one out when we remodeled the house 20 years.

Actually the seat time will make me have to use the chainsaw. I have a canopy on my new tractor and now I need to do some lower limb trimming. Everything is mowed except under some trees. But with a good sharp chain, I looking forward to it. Sounds like a good task for this afternoon.

I would rather run a chainsaw then sit on a tractor gaining seat time! I love running a chainsaw, and cannot get enough of it. Now, if I was making a living at it that might be a different story, but being that its only for getting firewood that's very enjoyable to me. Most people think I'm nuts, and the really great thing about it is when I am out with the saw NOBODY comes to bother me because they think I might ask them for help. Little do they know I would never ask for help because I enjoy being alone and not bothered. I guess the jokes on them!!

Yep. I vote for a chainsaw although seat time is close second. I love every aspect of 'wooding' although the stacking is my least favorite part of it.
