Sorry to hear. We lost my Dad in 2013, unexpectedly to a stroke. He lingered 4-5 days before passing.

Our attention then shifted to caring for my elderly Mom. We managed to keep her with us for the next 10 years with the help of caregivers at our in-law apartment at our place. She was of sound mind, but her body failed her at 87yo. Pretty good run for a type 1 diabetic of 56 years and we were blessed with every minute.
