After returning from the dealer last week I forgot to discuss engine heaters for cold weather and the power beyond kit installed.

Does anybody have any idea of the costs of these two for a 2520?

I do know the first dealer wanted $150 for an engine heater and that sounded way out of line.

It's been a year,but I can't see the price double!
My dealer added the block heater to my 2520 for 70.00.
Not sure about the power beyond cost.

glc24 Thanks for the reply it gives me some idea. Also read your post on the new updated arms on the 3PH. Wouldn't you expect that all the 2011 2520s would have the new style by now?

Maybe for $150 your dealer will install the tranny heater, too?

You can get the MSRP for the Power Beyond circuit from the JD "Build your Own" at least.

Of course that does not include installation, but if your dealer included it in the purchase package when you bought the tractor it should all be part of your loan at this point.

The 2520 I just ordered had the block heater added for $70 (installed). Didn't get the power beyond... not sure if I may regret that but at least it's easy to add later.

Just purchased 2520. The engine heater was $80.00, and the power beyond kit was $300.00.

Rand thanks. The power beyond was that an installed price?

if it was a "block heater" i think i paid 34 bucks and some change. and about 1 hour install. most of which was getting buckets around to drain antifreeze/water. a few minutes prying out a cap were block heater goes. rest was filling with antifreeze/water. and then finding some place to zip tie the cord to.

if you are talking about oil pan heater. that fits inside of the oil pan itself. then it would be a different story. and i don't remember prices

if you are talking about coolant heater or heater/pump that runs most likely off drain port on radiator to another spot in one of the hoses going to engine. they run a little higher than the block heaters, i want to say 40 to 80 bucks.

everything is off brand, generic manufacture. DIY installation.

$150 bucks for engine heater (of one of them types) i surely hope would be with installation. if not. i would quickly look else were. or less you want to pay for a name.

================
i can not speak of power beyond. cost.

I Cant speak for your dealer, but when I bought my 3520 that dealer (who has since been bought) made it a standard to have the block heaters on all 3x20's and larger machines (Could have been on the 2x's as well but I never paid attention). Wasnt even on my invoice, but its there, and was on all the machines they had on the lot.
That being said, I cross referenced the block heater for my F935 and bought it from a local heavy truck parts supplier for $27.00
Not hard to do, but on a new machine, i'd have it done...

On the JDParts site, it lists part # LVB25603 as the Power Beyond Kit for the 2520 - but then it says it is not available thru JDParts. I found another site showing the price to be $ 304.00 - not installed. I can tell you the Power Beyond install on a 4120 took me roughly 3 hrs. - an experienced person can probably cut that to 1-1 1/2hrs.

om21braz thanks for looking that up. I am headed down to the JD dealer tomorrow to talk tractors, and was hoping to have a good idea of what they are worth ahead of time. I was hoping to get the dealer to install it ahead of time.

Thanks again,

smalltown,

If you are headed to Hammond in Auburn, I was there today. I don't know about the block heater but on a 3320 they are charging $699 installed for a the additional remote. I bought the used 3320 they had on the lot today.

Just remember that a "remote" as in remote valve is a more expensive part than the "Power Beyond" kit and they serve two different purposes.

Not a bad price for the 3rd SCV on the Cabbed machines..Dunno about the open stations, but the new 3rd SCV is now an electro hydraulic valve setup. Much costlier...the price for the 3rd kit on mine was only in the ~$300 range

Well talked to the dealer today and had a lot of questions and almost forgot to ask about the power beyond and engine heater. So I got a price off the top of his head while walking out the door.

Engine heater about $100, power beyond under $500 installed.

Dealer didn't think I needed the heater as none of the tractors had any problem staring in the winter, but I am leaning toward the heater. I'm thinking that it might save a little engine wear over the long term?

Boy, I don't see many used 3320's around. You grabbed that one in a hurry, eh.??

Good for you. Nice tractor. Best wishes with it's operation.

IMO It depends on where you park your machine. In a garage I'd say thats a fair statement. If "outdoors" or in something like a Tarp/Canvas garage, I definetly would get it. I know I have it and use it on my 3520 which is currently parked in a "tarp garage".
That being said, I've come home to 18" of snow and didnt want to wait for the block heater to do its thing and the ol 3520 cranked right up every time.

I'm looking forward to it. I would have preferred eHydro for mowing with it but the PR is fine. I wasn't planning on spending this much so spending more for a new one just for HST wasn't worth it to me. I'm used to the PR on my TN75 anyhow.
