I just used touchup in a spray can I've had since I Bought my tractor that I purchased when I was buying parts. Finally got around to useing it and looks good enough for me. It's a 35yr Old tractor made for work! I've never been a Desk Jockey and if you had a Busy or Rough Day your useally dirty and maybe a Little Scratched up at the end of it. I'm over 10 yrs. older than my Tractor and now I'm thinking I could use a little touch up in a few places myself. :p:laughing:

Main reason I'm doing repaint is the rust, Living on the Gulf Coast with the salt air, I didn't want to end up with major rust. Regards

Cary those are interesting bearing caps on the front. Are yours held on bly 3 bolts? Mine appear to be the tap on kind like youd find on the front of any old 2wd pickup truck. I see that you oil cap was painted green mine is still yellow? Just interesting to see others machines up close. Tell me what you have on your front bearing caps or take a straight on pic of the for me!

Unless you plan on stripping, cleaning, priming, painting each and every piece on the chassis, engine, and frame, I would forget about changing to black and just touch up the green, otherwise you could end up with a big mess.

I agree with Normde...the green will always want to show through especially around the grease. I tried this an implement and it looked great for about 6 mo then it was a mess ...I then had to do it right.

I worked in auto body repair for almost 20 years, I think I will have good luck.

I believe Carey has the heavy duty frt axle option, Wish mine had it. I think Carey you have tapered roller bearings instead of the ball bearings like my 2000 has, which I already had to replace.
California can you confirm.

Thanks Carey, interesting what you notice. I need to check mine i have not looked at them yet, i have put 80 hrs on mine this year that i have had it. I also have a brake that is squealing a lot now , need to pull the cover and see whats going on and if i have any lining left or do i need to reverse them.

I don't know the answer to that one.

My (US) YM240, equivalent to YM2000, has the optional HD, adjustable width front axle same as shown in the back of its parts manual under 'options'. (And I assume this is simply the axle off a larger model). I think the tractor was ordered loader-ready, and the loader may have been put on before it was ever sold.

Mine has the four cover bolts as shown in Carey's photo. I read somewhere, and have always assumed, that this is a sealed bearing. Seems to me it would have to be, the way these tractors are run half submerged in the rice paddies.

cary mine looks like it has dust caps on it tat you tap on. neat1500 talks about repacking and replacing the bearings

/ Repaint YM2000 #18
yep been there, done that. my original bearings collapsed so i had to replace. i used sealed ones not open style like it had(dust covers removed) and 2 new race washers cost me $28 AUD. been good sofar but ended up with a flat front today while slashing:(

/ Repaint YM2000 #19
Neat,

Did you order these from a Yanmar dealer or did you just go to the bearing house? You still dont have those part #s do you?

Also im guessing since the type berings Cary has are for the heavy duty axle there is no chance of getting those particular sealed bearings to replace my greese packed bearings?

/ Repaint YM2000 #20
Clem ...take your old bearing to a good bearing house and they will match it up for you... you may not need numbers. I replaced a large bearing in a 1400 tiller and got a sealed bearing for about $30 ...it was there better bearing.
