I'm looking at a B2620 or B2920 with a BH , ROPS and FEL. I am now getting ready to modify a building for a shop and garage, but unsure how high the door opening needs to be so the tractor can be driven in with the ROPS installed and the BH in the normal position transporting position. I am planning on a 9' high door opening- would that be high enough?

I looked on the Kubota site for the specifications, but found nothing to answer my question-anybody measured a tractor lately? If I don't get an answer I might need to find a dealer and take a tape.

You will be good at 9'. I'm sure you would be good at 8' too. I have to fold my ROPS for my 7' door, and I know the "travel height" of the backhoe is higher than that folded height.

I measured mine and the ROPS is a tick over 7' so you will be fine

Unless you really need the 9' door, go with the 8'.

Anything over 8' is considered a commercial door, and they cost more.

I plan to change my garage door to accomodate the ROPS on my 2920, and I'll go with 8'. I'll just be careful with the backhoe.

I have 8' doors on my new home and "almost" get in with my M8540. I would think you would have a mile of room with a B in 8' doors. A mile and a foot with 9'. :D

I don't know about a 'mile' but...

A large B will fit thru an 8' door with ROPS up, no problem. It will not fit ROPS up with a 7' door, and it will barely fit thru a 7' door with a BH locked in transport position. ROPS-up is worst case.

8' is plenty for a B2920. Even taking into account that the bottom lip of the door typically hangs lower than 8' when up.

Don't make the mistake I did. I sized my door for the tractor I had rather than for the tractor I might want in a few years.

8' might be enough for today, but if the building can handle 9' without major work, go with a 9' door. If you can go 10', do that.

The few extra dollars for a bigger door will pay off big time when you move to a bigger tractor.

I went with a 10' door for my JD 110, and the M59 is 10'4". Will I ever be able to afford one? I don't know, but several thousand worth of garage modifications over 4" too little height sure doesn't make it any more affordable.

My only excuse is that the M59 didn't exist at that time.

I totally agree--go with the highest doors you can afford to install. Too tall is never an issue, but too short makes it a pain. And, the worst part is that it reminds you every time you enter or leave the garage.

Everybody has given great responses so far. I agree with what others have said make sure you know what the actual door height will be not just the rough opening. Also will you be adding any lights or anything to the rops at some time that may increase your height. The rops is definetly the tallest thing on the tractor with the BH on it and in transport position. I went and measured my rops at 83 1/2" if you add in the way I mounted my extra lights on it it comes to 84" even. I have an 8' door on my garage and don't have a problem getting it in and out of it and I have a 9' door on my pole barn. I don't know about the 9' being commercial or not, but I don't think it was that much more expensive. I don't know if finding an opener for it will be a problem or not I haven't really looked for one yet.

So 8' door no problem, 9' door plenty of extra.

I made a 9' plus opening for my work shop, bad idea 2 or three years latter we have a travel trailer that will not fit. I echo CurlyDave and would recommend the largest you can get by with .
