Your towing rigs and trailers

That's exclusive to D/C, the Fleetneck. They also use an engineered beam main frame (14"-18" depends on GVW) with built in arch like a semi trailer. Here is a close up of the gooseneck and note the arch on the full length pic.

Watched a few reviews explaining those exact details. They seem to be a well built version of a well built trailer

I put my mini x in my dump trailer. It worked but not good. It’s too heavy on the hitch. It might be better with the boom forward. But I couldn’t swing in the trailer and I didn’t want to take it out to turn around. Also the ramps are a pain to use and chaining down is harder than it has to be. The conclusion is my equipment trailers are way better for hauling equipment. IMG_9646.JPG

Did you opt for the longer 8’ ramps?

I think they’re 6’. But weight was the bigger problem over length. The angle wasn’t that bad but they’re a pain to drag out and set into place.

I agree. I haul my Bobcat loader and Tractor/loader/chipper with my dump all the time, I need the combo. There is no room in the bed once the equipment is loaded, you have to crawl around on precarious objects, getting in and out of the operators station, crawl over the 3.5' sides Etc. And yes the ramps are heavy/awkward. I have been looking at some aluminum ones.

BUT are the aluminum ramps up to the task of a 12k mini-ex?

Mine is about 9500 pound not 12. I’m sure you can get aluminum ramps to handle the load but I highly doubt they’re going to fit the included holder so then they’re just kicking around loose. Edit here is a set that’s rated for the load and claims to fit most ramp pockets. But $600 is a steep price to fix something that’s not broke. IMG_9647.JPG

Did you tilt your dump trailer a little when loading mini x?

I also have a mini-ex, specifically a Yanmar Vio55. Steep ramps feel uncomfortable, but they load ok. I have tilted the trailer some to lessen the ramp angle when loading into a dump trailer. The problem I have had in a dump trailer or any short trailer is that I can't put the weight in the correct spot. Too much tongue weight, or too much rear bias. And you simply can't tow safely if you have too much weight rearward, it's a good way to get in a wreck. Come to think about it, I've never had this current excavator in a dump trailer, but have done some 7500 lb machines. That still wasn't ideal in a 14' trailer.

We sell trailers and everyone wants that one perfect trailer that is a dump trailer, an equipment trailer, and a car hauler. I do too, but it doesn't exist, or at least not without a bunch of compromises. You have a little more flexibility if you are pulling with an F450-F550 size as you can load the tongue up much heavier and get away with it.
