Finally got around to buying a new generator to replace my approx 30 year old Craftsman. Went with the EM6500 Honda. The other machines I looked at are probably just as good for a bit less money (Winco and Multiquip especially) but dealer support would be an unknown. The local Honda dealer is well established with an outstanding reputation and I have bought equipment there before. My old back is looking forward to the electric start.

I like Honda’s, but their price points are way to high for me. Nice unit though.

When Hurricane Matthew hit here in Georgia that was a good lesson for myself. Had an older gen hadn't really took that good of care of it..
Got it running but the carb definitely needed a rebuild or cleaning.

Wife worked for B&S at the time, she came home with a Briggs 5500 for $500 that was sold strictly to employees.. I've taken great care of it since.

Once bitten......... lesson learned :thumbsup:

My FIL commented to me years ago, about the Honda generators he used in very remote locations back in the 70's - "Good muffler design, very quiet". There are a # of other suppliers today that address that performance point, but Honda has been getting that right for a really long time.

Enjoy it - Estart is convenient, and widens the pool of people who can fire it up in an emergency :thumbsup:

With these crazy fuel prices, I had the Genset filled yesterday, 200 gal tank and took ~135 gal to fill.

Buy Low...... reminds me, I have a fuel can or 2 to fill tomorrow....

speaking of gasoline...... I think I've posted enough here I can drift a little...... file under Emerg Prep..... you gotta eat while running a Gen.....

Maybe I'm the last to know, but I didn't realize that these dual-fuel Colemans existed....

Not everybody likes or wants these naptha stoves (I get why), but if you do..... not too many places on the planet where you can't find gasoline....

I have dual fuel lanterns and cook stove as part of my earthquake kit... Never used the stove but the lantern works great when I've used it in a screened in porch.

My service van has a 800W microwave that works great from my inverter... installed it in 1990

Last year I bought a new 2200 to add to my preparedness supplies... still in the box...

I'm guessing this is not a top priority as service centers under Covid19 shelter in place here in CA are not open for business.

Thx for that. I read the recall notice. The inverter can short circuit and cause a fire "in the presence of salt water". What does that mean? No dunking it in the ocean?
