My boss asked me recently how I can remember the years of things so well. They all are referenced to what dog I had and the stage of his/her life... 1997, first dog. 2011, no dog. 2012, second dog...

I'd heard that once also but apparently she wrote various lines for different people in her life. I recently read where she has been quoted as saying the second verse was about Beaty.

One of my good friends was born at the right age to experience the whole rock scene from the Beatles thru the 70's in his teens and early 20's. I'm always amazed the way he can remember the exact year, usually to the month, of every influential album and single release.

But that's how time matters so much when you're young, you can remember, "I heard that song while studying for my 9th grade math final".

For me, life has been a series of projects. I remember nearly everything by which project was kicking my butt, at the time, whether it be rebuilding windows on one of my houses or working nights and weekends on an engineering project.
