You Know You Are Old When

Yep, there are times when I just want to let things stay broken, or let someone else fix them for a change. And there are times when it seems everything breaks at once.
Just yesterday I replaced the battery in a friends Norelco rechargeable shaver.
I swear some day I'm going to get a hat that has OGTFS on it.
Old Guy That Fixes Stuff.
Personally I want to fix SOME things. I don't want to fix my daily driver, or the wife's, but my "toy" cars and motorcycles, sure, I do that for fun.

With me retiring the wife has it in her head that I can do the basic stuff on her car from now on. Had this discussion just last night. I said yea I can do it, you can just leave it with me and I can work on it during the week and you can take my truck. Ahhhhh.

She is still going to be working and parks in a parking garage that is pretty tight.

She wants oil change and all the brakes done. I am slowing down quite a bit and she knows that. It will likely take me a day or two to do this. I tend to do more sitting anymore then working, and I have a two post lift in my shop and the shop has AC. Too old to not be comfortable anymore. I am just a bit slower.

I had some pretty good teen and 20's years, all sorts of havoc and mayhem. But there's no doubt about it, after all these stories, yours were better. :D
We all did, and best thing of all it is all undocumented. You really "had to be there".

That is something "kids" today just don't get. They want video of everything. Nope was not a thing back then. You had stories, and in those stories you drove just a little faster each time.

Scars.....help to prove the point.

Something happened when I turned 70! Now I'm starting to bruise easily and don't know how it happened. An example is this and I don't remember dropping an anvil.
Then shower, dry off and small blood spatters on the towel. Where's that coming from? View attachment 872678
And getting "thin skin". It seems I start to bleed so easy anymore. And take FOREVER to heal.

I had a Betamax machine, the video quality was better than JVC's VHS, but Sony's Betamax licensing was expensive and the VHS format was basically open, so Betamax lost out.
But it continued in "professional" use till the digital age came along.

While some want to deny the food inflation by buying "deals"
the inflation is real.

Doesn't "core" inflation factor out food and energy prices? If so, that actual inflation of 31% is low and incorrect. I'll bet social security increases and benefits are indexed to "core" inflation and not the real deal.

Here's my secret cure. When I cut myself, I immediately put some Neosporin on the cut and then cover with one of those new style fabric bandaids from I think J&J. The fabric adjusts so if not on perfect it adjusts itself by the fabric moving.

Anyway, I do not remove that band aid for 5 days and when I finally do the cut is healed. If you remove and replace bandaid, put on more Neosporin and add a day to two to healing time. Bandaid comes off easily in the warm water of a shower.

So you have her leave the car with you, take it to a shop of your choice, then bring it back with oil and brakes done.
Husband duties done.
Or does she need grease on your clothes?

What a great idea!

To make it more realistic, take it for oil change one day and brakes the next, it works, don’t ask me how I know!😂😂😂☮️✌🏻

No that just seems dishonest. It is not a big deal to do it as long as I am not under a time crunch.

That is the thing if I have to get it done by X I really struggle.
