You Know You Are Old When

Speaking of.... why don't more clothing manufacturers offer pants in 1" increments? I wear size 33 jeans. 32 is too small, 34 is too big. The cheapo Walmart jeans brand "George" offers 33" waist jeans, and for only $15.
Amen. I'm also a 33", and while you can find them, there are never as many options as the miles of 32's and 34's straddling that narrow grouping of 33's.

So, if I go soft in the middle as I work my way thru my early 50's, and manage to work myself up to a 34" waist, I'll be solving one problem.

Eat a lot of cookies and milk. You'll hit 34 in a couple weeks. :p

My ex-wife made me fat, too good a cook, before our divorce I hit 235 lbs at 5' 7 1/2". My classmate died at 33 yrs old, I thought he died from a heart attack, he was also heavy. Because of that I decided to lose weight. Of course she laughed at me.

I told the wife, one plate for dinner (not 2 or 3), I exercised 5 days a week and allowed myself to pig out one day a week.

I lost 55 lbs in 1 1/2 years. Blood pressure went from 138/96 to 110/70.

Found out at my 25 year class reunion how my classmate died, two guys beat him to death outside of a bar. I could have stayed fat. Ha!

Went from 32 in the early 80's to 42 by 2000 and now back to 34. Was trending down still, then my back went sideways and I've been eating to much junk without working it off. Maybe once this new doc  figures something out I can bet back to working.

Speaking of keeping old clothes, I bought a pair of Tony Lama boots in 1965. I went to the Lama store in El Paso and this nice guy helped me pick out a pair. I was a college student and he directed me to a nice pair that were reasonably priced.

I took them to check out and the cashier said “do you know who that was?”. Nope. He said that was Tony Lama himself. He comes down to the store every once in a while to see what his customers want.

I still have those boots!
I dug out my old Tony Lamas. Still looks good for 60 years old.

Baking cookies was a holiday tradition at our house. Along with family and the school Christmas party we'd make packages for the mailman, milkman and the trash men. Until about 3 years ago my mother always had something in the freezer for when somebody helped her with anything, People called her "the Cookie Lady".
She also made over 100 dozen cookies for Christmas each year. The last year she did that it was a bit overwhelming and we convinced her that it was time to cut back.
My Mother was the same at Christmas making cookies. Everyone especially liked her Mexican Wedding Cakes or "Fingers" as she called them.
I just called 'em Mexican Wedding Fingers...

My grandmother and wife used to make those. But they made them round and we called them pecan balls.

... and we called them Russian Tea Cookies. Same thing, pecans, flour, powdered suger. Damn good, until the powdered sugar gets sticky after a few days. :ROFLMAO:

I didn't taste fast food until I was old enough to start going places with my friends.
Pizza, fast food burgers etc was stuff I only saw on TV.
Packaged cookies, cereal, never tasted them.
Didn't know how lucky I was.
My parents always had a garden, but we never raised any sort of livestock. They might have had chickens when they first bought the house (there was a coop in the back yard), but I don't remember seeing them, I must have been a very small child.
I'd never had any sort of fast food, sub, etc. until I'd moved away from home. We would occasionally have pizza made from a box kit...Appian Way I believe was the brand. Something I'd had at a friend's house once and introduced to the family. It was mediocre pizza, but back then I didn't have anything to compare it to.
Small town in the 60s, not may options to eat out. We had an A&W, I think that was it.
Cereal? That's pretty much what my siblings and I had for breakfast every day.

Reminds me of this from the Babylon Bee. I have a few shirts that fit into this category.
That's almost like new compared to some of my "grub" shirts. :ROFLMAO:

When my mother was in her mid 80s she stopped making cookies...too much work.
One variety were anise cookies we all liked, so she went to the local grocery store hoping to find them. She talked with the store manager asking if they "had any a n u s cookies".

When you spend 30 minutes trying to find the best price on a basic drug because you know you will be taking it for the rest of your life.
And you can't tell if it helps at all.

This just came up with me and my 74 year old eyes. Doctor recommended Preservision Areds2. They cost about 0.50/day from Amazon. Generics will do, maybe get it down to 0.32/day. But since I need a lifetime supply I'd gladly buy a year or two worth (2/day) to save some money., but the max size I could find was 240. And with my present health I plan on living a lot more than 120 days.

You do realize that you don't need to order enough to last the rest of your life all at once...
