YM226D Pwer Steering Unit

Hello, I am a new member but I've been reading posts for some time. My YM226D has a power steering unit and I know these were not standard. The valve has a small hole or crack. I'm not sure exactly since the guy I bought it from had some kind or gunky-goo over the spot to slow the leak. It looks like the valve is aluminum and it has "PH-5001" marked on the side. Does anyone know if this is a Yanmar or other after market unit? Anyone think it can be repaired? Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Perhaps the easiest way to repair it would be to run to the parts store and pick up some new gunky-goo? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Depending on where it is in the casting or what material it is , there are lots of ways to fix a problem. More info please........

I don't know if it is a Yanmar unit or not. A couple styles were used., but parts aren't available. A do have a complete Yanmar powersteering assembly . If it is disassembled it may be possible to have it welded.

I have repaired many of those PH units, there is two O-rings inside that need to be replaced. They are difficult to get to, but at least it is not expensive to do.

Will the power steering assembly you mentioned for the 226 fit the 1820D you sold me?
If so what is the cost of the unit uninstalled.
