Yanmar YT235C. Good deal or pass?

Let me start by saying that I need another tractor like I need a hole in the head. With that out of the way here's what I've run across.

Through a friend I heard about a widow selling her husbands 2020 Yanmar YT235C. The tractor was purchased brand new in 2020 along with a Yanmar YRC60C brush mower. Shortly after it was purchased her husband fell ill and passed this spring. She is asking $14,000 for both units. Apparently she just wants to pay off the loan and be done with it. After speaking to her she told me that if I didn't buy it she was going to let it go back to the bank/loan company.

Here's what I'm looking at...

2020 YT235C with 5 original hours
Yanmar YRC60C brush mower (really wish that this was a 72")
No front end loader ($6000 for a factory YL310 FEL including installation and sales tax)

Is this tractor as it sits (without an FEL) worth the $14,000 ask? Prices on new units seem to be all over the place so I'm having a tough time estimating the value. Adding the factory FEL would make it a $20,000 tractor with 5 hours and an undersized brush mower. New or not the mower is still too small in my opinion.

This unit is the cabbed version. I need to run over and see if it has any of the optional equipment installed. Nothing is called out on the original invoice other than the mower.

The rotary cutter is also nearly irrelevant at that price.

With only 27 pto hp, a 5 foot cutter may not be out of line.

Too bad about not having a loader, but if you can use a cabbed tractor with no loader, go for it.

If you're buying it just to "flip" it, I would pass. Reselling a used tractor with no loader will be more difficult (as I'm sure the widow has discovered).

I would be purchasing it to keep and adding the correct YL310 loader. If it seems to be a decent tractor I would probably let my older cabbed B3030 go.

Man, that is a smokin deal for a 35hp HST cab tractor. A 5ft rotary cutter is perfect for the width of that tractor. It's about the same size as a Kubota standard L tractor but is more deluxe. Yanmar builds some of the best engines and products out there. Go get that tractor, get a loader for it and don't look back. Amazing deal!

To be honest the whole thing feels kind of weird but she contacted me and she set the price. I've asked her repeatedly if she would prefer to sell it for more through normal channels and she has declined everytime. I even offered to sell it for her so that she wouldn't have to deal with potential buyers. Again she declined. She just want's it paid off and gone.

I'm heading over at 9:30 tomorrow morning to see it first hand. I'll report back. I'll start a thread in the Yanmar forum if I end up bringing it home.

Nice. I'd go for it. Yanmar has an excellent reputation. We've had several and followed them for years.

That is a very good deal for what you're planning to do with it. go get it and don't feel bad about. Actually, she probably wouldn't have a hard time selling it.

If she was in Ohio she could sell it, because I would buy it for that money and put a loader on it.

Just got back from looking at the tractor. For all intents and purposes it is a new tractor. Dash shows just 4.1 hours. Interior still smells new. Mower has never cut a blade of grass.

There's a micro scratch across the hood that will easily buff out. Probably from metal grommets on the tarp when it was covered and uncovered. Front wheels have a small amount of surface rust from her rescue dogs peeing on them. If I can find a color match that's an easy fix. The left front tire was down when I got there. She thought it was just sunken into the dirt. No sidewall damage so no worries there. That's it. All minor things. Yes, it will be used hard but I like to keep things in the best condition that I can for as long as possible. Other than needing a good bath due to being parked outside in the Florida humidity I can't find anything wrong with it.

She was so upset when she saw the tiny scratch and flat tire that she dropped the price another $500. I told here that was absolutely unnecessary but she insisted and would take no for an answer. Final price as it sits is $13,5

She's going to pay it off and I can go pay for it and load it out as soon as she has the title in hand. Looks like another one is coming to live with me.
