Yanmar YM 145 ???

I'm looking at a 2 cyl. diesel, Yanmar YM 146, 3 sp trans with power shift.
Think it has hydraulics an maybe a differential lock, not sure about that...

I would appreciate any information on this tractor. What year
made an what would be a decent price in very good condition.
The only equipment it has is a belly mower... I would like a
snow blade for it, providing it has a differential lock..

Oh, last but not least, how hard to find are parts for this tractor???

Hi,

I've got a 147, which I'm guessing is newer than the 146. Mine is a 1987 model. This is a USA Model and not a grey so it will bring a higher price than the greys. I have not needed many parts, but none have been a problem. It has the diff lock, a lever that you step on to the right of the seat. Has a flat round end that you push with your heel. Price, depends on condition How many hours? Maintence, How beat up is it? What size mower, Yanmar mower? Turf tires or Ag. My 147 had turf and I have also bought a set of rims for Ags. A two wheel drive with Turf tires has very little traction for using a box blade. Mine only weighs around 1000-1100 lbs. For mowing, spraying, light brush hogging, it makes a good little tractor. If you have plan to do dirt work 4wd is a must.

I would guess $2,000 to 5,000 depending on hours and condition. VGC, I would guess around $4000. Others may have a better idea on price. I only see maybe 1-2 USA yanmars around here a year.

I stopped by the dealer with Yanmar 146, they are asking
$2295.00. The tractor has turf tires, is 2WD, does not have
3 pt hitch...

The paint look like original, the tractor look in excellent condition
The hour meter shows 791 hours if it can be believed...

I'm personally not looking for a tractor but was thinking to get it
for my son... He's got couple acres of grass to cut an a long
400 ft driveway to maintain an snow plow...

I heard what you said about the 2WD an ground work but was
wondering with if the differential lock would off set not having 4WD...

If its a dealer they should provide you with a 3 pt conversion kit for a little extra. Also I don't recall ever seeing a Yanmar w/o differential lock.

For what some people pay for garden tractors, the YM146 is a better deal. The diesel power and longevity plus combination of implements make it very suitable for a couple of acres.

There is no substitute for 4 wheel drive though.

My first tractor was a Bolens G152. A little 3 cylinder 15hp diesel with wide turf tires and only 2 wd drive. I done a lot of dirt moving with that tractor and a 4 ft landscape box. There is an old say, well maybe not that old, "Any tractor is better than no tractor". The diff lock won't offset the lack of 4 wheel drive. The funny thing is that when you don't have certain things, you learn to work around them. For that price I would not hesitate to get it for him. No it won't be able to do everything but it is a start.

A three point would be a must for me. Does it have a 540 PTO and just needs the linkage/bars for the three pt? I think I have seen pictures of a 135 or 145 from the pictures it looks more along the lines of a lawn/garden tractor? The 147 has a 3 pt and 540 PTO.

There is or was a Yanmar on Ebay that had a blade on the front and hydraulic cylinders for lift and angle. Might give you some ideas.

You will be amazed at the difference in fuel usaged between the little Yanmar and a similiar size Briggs and Stratton. I don't think the diff lock is a substitute for 4wd, but as Tractors4U said and I agree 100% a little tractor is better than no tractor. I don't see how you could go wrong price wise it is about the same as a low end new lawn/garden tractor.

Just wanted to add that if your son is mechanically inclined it won't take long to improvise to his environment. Have to agree completely with Brent....If you've never had all the options, you never miss them.

Personally, I think considering or providing him with a tractor is very touching, and probably the perfect addition to his property.

Do a search on "yanmar" on ebay. There is a 169D with a snowplow on the front. Has about 2days left on the auction. Would give you an idea for a front blade.

sorry to go off topic, but since that 169d was mentioned... does anyone know much/anything about that model? 18HP right? And, gunfighter, I would only think that your son would be thrilled to receive a tractor from you.
