Man I sure hope there isn't much wrong with your tractor.....But it sounds like it is......Hopefully, it won't cost too much to fix it....The YM2000s are some very nice machines.

I have 6022 or 3262 napa or wix 3362 as fuel filter # s . you could take your old filter & ask to look at the above filters to see if they match yours.

Hi All!

New member Greg Clark here. YM2000 new owner.

I need a fuel filter - I want one I can get at the auto parts store. Any help? :)

Thanks!

Greg

GEEZ GUYS, NAPA 3262.

Filters are a little pricey even at the auto store. Aaron at Hoye has a 3-pack of filters for less than 20 bucks. Don't forget to change the O-ring, dosn't hurt to change the filter bowl either.

Norm, I had those # s but, hadn't bought any from the auto parts . I get a better deal from fredricks. 6022 maybe an air filter. I know the wix # is correct

Here's what I have for the filter numbers for a Yanmar YM2000

A).........NAPA oil filter #1064 and also #1334
B).........NAPA air filter #2297 and also #6022
C).........NAPA fuel filter #3262

A).........WIX oil filter #51334
B).........WIX air filter #46022
C).........WIX fuel filter #33262

A).........BALDWIN oil filter #B227
B).........BALDWIN air filter (none at this time)
C).........BALDWIN fuel filter #PF937

*****My Yanmar YM2000 currently has a blue GENUINE HONDA OIL FILTER on it...........I don't know the numbers on the filter. When I change my oil, i'll get them and post on here.

******Not sure how accurate these numbers are, for I haven't needed to change any of my filters yet.........These numbers came from TBN and my dealer.

Some dealers still use (and advocate using) the aftermarket 6022 or equivalent. We have rebuilt two engines that were otherwise well cared for, but used that filter. Both are unusual situations in that the owners put 600-1000 hours a year on them, but.....they only show what will happen to your engines in 10 years. The 6022 and equivalents often do not completely seal, especially if you are using the original filter canister with old, sometimes dilapidated, neoprene. The OEM metal cased filter was a ******* size. There is an aftermarket filter made specifically to replace the 1500/1700/2000/2500 filter. $12 and change. Also available are new air canister lids, complete with new neoprene seals...app. $30. Cheap insurance.

Wayne,

Where can this filter ($12) and new 'canister' ($30) be purchased?..........I'll probably end up buying that.

Travis, it's not a canister, it's a canister lid and I've been selling them and the filters for 2 - 3 years.

well I finally got around to the tractor today. pulled the pistons out and all the rings were intact. then I pull a ring off the piston and put it in the cylinder. the gap was about 3/4". all the rings were the same so I think I have found my problem. waiting on parts now. then I'll get it back together.

Wow! I just have to ask...did you try the rings at the top, center and bottom of the cylinder wall? I'm wondering how much taper you may (or may not) have in your liners? Glad you found the problem.

Had the same thing on my 1700. And they were the same all way up and down.

The ring gap in the photo appears to be about 3/16" and not nearly 3/4", however, this is still way too much as maximum ring gap should be no more than 1 mm. Minimum ring gap should always be measured at the bottom of the cylinder instead of the top because the top wears more and will frequently have more gap than the bottom. If ring gap is set for the top of the cylinder, the rings can bind up when they hit bottom. If ring gap varies too much between the top and bottom of the cylinder, then the cylinder must be honed or bored to correct the deviation.

that picture looks like mine. the top ring on each piston was about twice that much gap. the others are a little wider than the picture.
my question now is about gaskets. I have ordered a head gasket. can I use rtv for the oil pan and water pump housing or should I get gaskets.
thanks for the help.

The head gasket will look like it will go any way you put it . But it will only work right one way.

I put all new gaskets on mine. I think it's cheap insurance against leaks. Mine didn't have a water pump on it at the time, but while I had it all down I put one on it. Best thing I've ever done.

By the way, Mine still started and ran good, it just smoked, blue smoke, and had excessive oil usage. All this was fixed with new rings and valve job.

RTV silicone will work better than paper gaskets for the pan, WP, front
cover, etc. Takes a little longer, but works great. Some manufacturers
even do that now. RTV (orange) can even be used for the exh manifold.
