Around here, the wing on the snowplow truck would have that fence moved back a few feet on the first pass widening the road. Hopefully the macadam road shown in the picture isn't indicative of that happening to your fence. It looks nice, and sure will dry the wood nice if you ever need an emergency supply for the wood stove.

The wedges will work as I can now see. However, if you use stones, you will not wick up moisture from the ground and it would minimize the possibility of termites finding a new home.
