Is there an aftermarket source for spindles for RM400-3? Bearings noisy and 10 tons won't press it apart. Thanks for any info as Woods' are spendy

Before taking the complete replacement path take a look at this parts illustration.

I don't have a Woods but looking at the parts, it appears a pin goes through the spindle and if it is in place still, getting the spindle to slide down and out would be impossible.

If the pin is out, then I would try and find a brass rod 3/4" to 1" diameter to serve as a punch.

Support the spindle housing in a strong vice, place the brass punch on top of the spindle and hit it with a very large hammer. The brass is to prevent mushrooming the steel spindle.

I have a press but often find the shock loading of a heavy hammer can move things when the press cannot.

If the heavy hammer wont move it, find a machine shop and ask them to cut it loose from the bearings with a torch while saving the housing.
