No one is going to flame you.

We want you to be an informed consumer period

What type of cut are you looking to have or maintain?

1. reclaiming brush land that has mounts of brush that needs to be cut down?

2. rough turf/brush/low frequency of mowing junk?

3. occasional wacking the crap brush type turf with heavy undergrowth?

4. poor turf you want to turn into good turf with late in the fall seeding after the last mowing?

Flail mowers have scoop knives, side slicer knives
and a hammer knive ment for heavy brush.

You are probably referring to the scoop knive on that
model flail mower.

There is a lot to buy the right flail mower for your needs:

especially dealer support for parts.

Unless you purchase a flailmower with box frame construction
and full length welds you are buying trouble that cannot be fixed.

good evening,

the flame comment was for those with issues....there are no reviews on their website, so I was just asking...yes the scoop type blade for 90% grass...some areas are a little rough...

they offer a two year warranty and the drive shaft is included in the price..

do you have the woodmaxx?

thanks a million....its appreciated....

good luck,

I own a Mathews Company flail mower.

I can tell you from thirty years of ownership of
them an american or european made flailmower
product are superior in design and construction.

Bringing an old thread back to life - anyone ever buy one of there flails and if so how do you like it?

/ woodmaxx flail mower? #6
I know nothing about their mowers but I have looked at thier other equipment and have found good reviews and what appears to be a quality product.

Thats about where I am on it - seems they have good support and decent stuff. I was hoping to find something on their flails. Thanks
for the input

Any news here? Their pricing looks pretty competitive on their flails and it looks like they have some nice features (back door that opens so you don't have to mess around from underneath). I'm assuming since their website makes a big deal about USA made belts and optional PTO shaft, that the mower is probably built in China. Any thoughts?

Being competitive is fine, offering high quality in assembly, welds, construction, and
design is another.

The rear door is ment as a trash ejection door for mowing
in heavy brush and it allows you to change knives from
one position IF there is no continuous holding rod for the
scoop knives.

If you want a flail mower with a trash door invest in a
Land Pride Flail Mower as they are Italian made Maschio
Flail mowers.

Short of that a Caroni from Agrisupply is an option.

Chinese mower is always competitive in price. If you use this mower once per week, you can think about choose it. If you use it every day, it is not a good idea. Just choose what fit your need.

The Woodmaxx flail mower looks good, but what is the deal with the angle iron that is bolted on behind the rear roller. It seems like that would get hung up on brush stubble or get bent when backing up. If it is a scraper/cleaner for the rear roller, I would expect it to be mounted higher. Again, this looks like a lot of flail mower for the money, I like the rear door, but I do not understand that angle iron.

we design it to get down the dirt which stuck on the roller, if the earth is wet, the dirt will easy to stuck on roller.

I get that it is meant to clean the roller, but other flail manufacturers mount the scraper closer to the top of the roller.

My mowers scrapers are all on top of roller.

You can see woodmaxx add a big plate cover on top of roller, so I think it is difficult for them to find an ideal position on roller top to assemble this scraper, even if they find a position on roller top to assemble the scraper, I think it will make other problems, you can see there is not too much space between the roller and plate cover, so there will be too few space if assemble the scraper there, then the dirt maybe stuck in this small space.

Anyway, woodmaxx's initial purpose is good, add a cover to protect something fly out from rear, but this affect the position of scraper. I think it could be easier to damage the scraper if its position near roller bottom, but not top. So if you will mow some small bushes or small tree root, drive tractor slow and make sure they are mowed clearly.

View attachment 460889The rear roller scraper on my verge (ditch mower) flail mower are mounted low too. I haven't done any real mowing with it yet, just playing around mowing the shoulder of our road and don't see it as being a problem. I just bought the verge mower from China and plan to do a post on here with pictures about this whole experience by spring. Also I wanted to buy the Woodmax FM62H but Woodmax told me the 62H was to much mower for my Kubota B2601 so I wound up buying the verge mower instead. I attached a picture of my wife mowing with the new mower.

Bumping thread. I'm looking at the FM-88H. Want/need side shift. Not sure that the scraper location noted here is a significant enough issue to dismiss this mower.

Anyone use any of these mowers yet? I've only seen 2 reviews on their site and both seem to be positive so far.

I have a 78H on order now should be here in he next 2-3 weeks. I'll have some areas that need mowing again and will report back.

I am also looking forward to your report as I am still thinking about one.

I did a lot of research on flail mowers before buying my Caroni. I called the Woodmax dealer and he was knowledgeable to a degree. I asked him why I should buy a Woodmax instead of Caroni. He stated he didnt know that brand . Had not heard of it. My point is he is not very up on the flail mower business. I was quite a bit surprised. He stated the mower was designed in America and made in China. China being an unscrupulous trading partner to start with, it was no problem choosing Caroni.
