I adjusted the linkage throw by lengthening the L shaped threaded section that presses down the plunger on the valve. It didn't help. What kind of adjustment did you make? You're sure right about the limited access; that's one tight spot to work in.
BTW, it's good to hear from another PT'er. This is a great place to ask/answer questions and swap stories about our green beasties. Thanks for joining in.
