Been looking for a used disc harrow, found a 6.5 Bush Hog disc harrow 16 /20 disc. It痴 older model 1410 but good shape and price...I can稚 find any specs on a 1410. Any opinions on whether it would be too big? Delaware sandy soil, food plots. Thanks for your time.

No.

An L2501 can probably pull a 6'-6" Disc Harrow with 18" diameter pans, but not 20" diameter pans.
An L2501 can certainly pull a 5'-0" Disc Harrow with 18" diameter pans, assuming 4-WD.
Disc Harrows with 18" diameter pans usually require 3-5 passes over a plowed field to smooth it. Worthless for breaking new ground.

A Disc 16/18 with 18" diameter pans has about 37 pounds bearing on each pan.

A 16/20 Disc with 20" diameter pans has 50 - 55 pounds bearing on each pan.

With an L2501, 2,600 pounds bare tractor weight, you will be happier with a PTO-powered roto-tiller.
You lack about 1,000 pounds bare tractor weight for 6'-6" 16/20 Disc Harrow, assuming you have 4-WD.

I SUGGEST MAKING YOUR DELAWARE LOCATION PART OF YOUR T-B-N PROFILE.

In sandy soil a disc will cut in deeper than hard soil but traction is also limited by sand

My Branson 2400 pulls 3pt mount 54 disc with 20 pans on 9 spacing but it has to be in 4WD or it just spins when the disc starts digging in.

For reference 2400 is 1800 lbs + loader mount frame estimate 2500 lbs with loaded R1 tires on heavy Loam soil.

Don't think it will pull it or be effective.Roto tiller will work a lot better on that sized machine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone will keep saving for a rotary tiller, they are pricey
