3-Point Hitch Why I can't plow

Check out the Keulavator gizmo on one of the supply places (Google it; I've forgotten who carries it). It's basically a 3ph tool bar onto which you can mount various earth working gizmos, like cultivators, rotary plows and maybe even a moldboard (not sure). I converted an old JD soil ripper, which was a tool bar plus cultivator tines, to 3ph and mounted 2 opposed discs to do raised rows. Could easily mount the discs in parallel and have a 2 disc rotary plow.

I'll include a picture. I had 2 top links on the JD tool bar so that I could adjust it many ways.

Ralph

The OP is in Canada, so I doubt he can order from Agri Supply.

I have my doubts a BX Three Point Hitch can raise sufficiently to lift Keulavator attachments out of dirt.

Agree...I have a B series and with 3PH full up and my top link at full retraction my discs only clear the ground by an inch or so...

Your little plow is a sleeve hitch plow for a garden tractor. It is NOT designed to work mounted on a Three Point Hitch.

I think you are wasting your time. It took Harry Ferguson, inventor of the Three Point Hitch, six years to modify the horse drawn moldboard plow to invert earth properly behind a tractor.

You do not know how to plow, yet you think you can weld until it works. Unlikely. Both draw pins in Photo #2 are at the same level. Right pin should be offset ~~6"~~ higher, so when right wheel is in furrow, plow is level.

Buy a proper Three Point Hitch plow with a reduced dimension frame specifically designed for subcompact tractors.

Plows are one of the most difficult implements to learn to operate properly even when plow/tractor fit is 100%

Is it your gneral nature to be condescending or is it deliberate?

Why not offer guidance without condemnation.

I've saw you post some pretty naive comments but I didn't pounce on you.

Let's help the guy make this plow work. It can be done. :)

Agreed, you can make most anything work including the OP's plow setup, adjustments is all it needs..

As others have said, such as Milkman, the BX can plow pretty good. Attached is a close up of my plow on a BX. It took me awhile to learn how to use it though. You should be able to modify (top link mostly) your Sears plow to do a decent job for a garden.
Cheers,
Mike

The hitch as shown will not really let the plow be properly set up.

Get on the internet and look at pictures of a proper set up then alter your hitch so you can do the same. Its best to have one side of the tractor wheels sitting in the furrow. This requires one pin on the three point to be higher than the other. The pull point may also have to be shifted to one side. There should be adjustment for straight pull of the share to center line of tractor. These tow adjustments can be done at the attachment point of the lift arms. The bottom of the share should be horizontal, flat to the furrow. The top link will do this.

I've used four turn plows and never could plow worth shucks with any of them. they would turn dirt but it was like trying to level a small mountain range to smooth it back out. I wish you the best of luck.
