Who makes Super UDT?

I tried to get some SUDT from my Kubota dealer yesterday and they didn't have any! They said that they use some Ambra fluid that's "just as good." I guess I'm going to have to order a 5 gallon bucket from Messicks today. Hopefully shipping doesn't kill me. (Or the bucket!)

Ambra was what we were told to use in ours.

We can debate until the cows come home if SUDT really is better/needed/different. However, a DEALER not stocking it and suggesting something else is "just as good" is total BS in my eyes.

Not only should they "promote what they sell", but I rather doubt anyone at a dealership is qualified to say another oil is "just as good".

I have said it many times... and I will say it again. Having tractor owners say they use different fluid in their machines without any issues is one thing. A dealer suggesting a fluid that is not approved by the manufacturer is completely different. There is some implied expertise and approval that can get them into trouble in my eyes. I'm sure Kubota would love to know one (or more) of their dealers are saying this.

I have had more than a couple of Kubotas with manuals that recommended Kubota oil or "another oil" that met standards set out, so I don't really see a problem depending on the tractor.

My dealer sold me Ambra and I have used it with no problems.

We get Ambra and Hytran by the tanker. However we still keep around drums of SUDT because we think the performance difference is that noticable in the newer machines (and RTV's!). If you've got an old stick shift its not a big deal, but in a modern tractor its not worth saving that $20-30 over 500 hours.

Quick question.... i bought a new B3700SU a month ago or so and the dealer mentioned that they put NH oil in the engine and regular Kubota udt in the hydraulic system. Should it be SUDT and not UDT?

I would refer to your manual.

What kind of transmission do you have? I think the SUDT is more important in the Hydrostatic and Hydraulic Shuttle transmissions than the gear/non-hydraulic shuttle transmissions.

But I would still do what your manual states.

If you have no noise/whining issues and everything works OK, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My manual says my B2920 is filled with SUDT....but your statement has me wondering. If the dealer fills it, I'm sure mine has something else altogether in it. He doesn't stock SUDT, and when I tried to buy some for my filter change he was going to sell me some out of a 5 gallon can marked "Coastal" (store brand, I guess).
I went to another bota dealer and got 2 qts of SUDT. But if these tractors come in from the factory already oiled up (I would think that has to be the case) mine would have the SUDT.

The manual for my 2010 M5030 with Hydraulic shuttle says use either UDT or SUDT. Since the advantages seem to be mostly in cold climates (I'm in Georgia) I'll to the 50 hour change with UDT. According to my dealer, that is the factory fill in this tractor. He had both but recommended the UDT.

My BX says I can use UDT and SUDT...SUDT is only better at temps and not a synthetic. I know there SUDT in the front Diff is poor at that...I have used there old Series 2000 (blue) gear fluid and now there best gear 75w-90 in diff and works MINT!!!!

For the price of SUDT, heck Amsoil ATH synthetic hyd oil is a better deal for a non-dino oil.

YMMV deal

To answer the original posters question, Ashland oil make the UDT and SUDT for Kubota at least that is what the MSDS says.

Is Ashland manufactured hydraulic oil available other than at Kubota dealers?

Looking at this Ashland.com Ashland is Valvoline.

Valvoline Unitrac says it is compatible with UDT Valvoline.com > Products > Hydraulic and Industrial Oils > > Valvoline® Unitrac Fluid

I wonder if this is SUDT
Valvoline.com > Products > Hydraulic and Industrial Oils > > Valvoline® AW HVI Hydraulic Fluids
"Valvoline’s AW-HVI Hydraulic Fluids are premium multi-grade high viscosity index anti-wear hydraulic oils developed to meet the requirements of modern hydraulic systems which operate at low or widely varying ambient temperatures."

SUDT is fortified with pixie dust and unicorn tears.

Apparently HST's really like both. :D
