Any chance you will be offering, as an option perhaps, your "Bolt-in, removable front plates that greatly increases the shearing and gripping ability" on your 55" or 73" Root Grapple For Mega Compact and Utility Tractors???

I can't see it happening because the design/tine spacing of those two models is different, so it really wouldn't be a simple retrofit.
The lighter model has laminated/serrated tine ends which make it easier for a tractor to push roots/rocks/vines and the heavier one uses triangular gussets with the bolt in, removable plates..

Understandable, but unfortunate, those bolt on plates resemble the piranha tooth bar. I Imagine they would make quick work of briar patches, saplings, and vines amongst other pesky foliage. I certainly appreciate the quick response however....

I知 considering the EA 55 root rake grapple or the 54 L shaped bottom grapple. I have a JD4300 with 430 loader. Main first use is clearing 2 2 acre areas. 1 is thick honeysuckle and downed dead evergreens. The other is extremely thick honeysuckle and wildflora rose with downed dead ash. Ground is clay. I need to be able to pull the honeysuckle out by the roots and will not be cutting it. I also would like to be able to pull logs out length wise. To make this project quicker. Both areas have standing good trees I want to preserve.

I already have forklift attachment for lifting and carrying that sort of stuff. So the abilities Cary objects on the bottom of the L shaped grapple is not a selling point for me.

WR Long 3rd function kit is the preferred?

Suggestions?

I think our Wicked 55 root rake grapple is a fine match for your applications and tractor. It will enhance your tractor's pushing ability with those vines and such and also increase its lifting ability with the logs.
The WR Long custom 3rd function kit is offered for your 430 loader and the hoses, couplers, etc. will be proper to match what comes on the grapple!

I'll be glad to discuss further on here or on the phone!
You'll LOVE it, sir.

Ted, really useful post here.
What would you suggest?
35hp, 99% of my land that I want cleared, is cleared. A little tidy up around the edges from time to time. The main use would be digging up (also have a frame mounted back hoe), moving and most importantly placing rocks. Any one who knows middle Tennessee knows we grow some really good rocks! They're just never where I want them to be!
Suggestions welcome . . .

The hottest thing going with awesome feedback has been our rake style Wicked Grapples.

For your Branson, with over 2,000 pounds of loader lift capacity, I'd go with the 400 pound Wicked 60. It will increase your tractor's pushing/prying/digging ability and also keep the load close to maximize lift. You'll also be able to use the lid to rake loose material backwards, which is handy for tidying up the tree lines!
Travis

As you can see, the shorter bottom tines doesn't hinder its capacity!

Really love all your equipment. For a bx2380 with QA, that 55 just seems awfully big. I know it's only 200lbs, which is great, but most of the tractor pics you show using it are compacts or larger. The 48 is perfect size for the bx, but it's pin on. Really wish you could've worked in the QA on the 48. Was looking at a Worksaver scg-48s at the dealership. It has a QA. It was a decent grapple, much better than the LP, but not nearly as nice as the EA grapple. Just think the 48" is perfect size for a sub-compact.

Our root rake grapples are made the way root rake grapples should be, with the cylinders on the outer back portion of the grapple. This design results in the most clamping ability, the lid bottoms out on the frame, giving you the ability to rake loose materials backwards, and it keeps the load incredibly close to the tractor. It also means that a universal quick attach won't fit on anything smaller than 55" wide.
Those attributes are part of what is definitely the best small, universal quick attach equipped, tractor grapple on the planet.

I'll attach some pics of BX machines with the Wicked 55.

I am purchasing an LS4140 cab tractor

My main short term project will be removing saplings up to 3” in diameter in an area of about three acres. This area was logged many years ago and there are semi decayed stumps up to 14” that I also wish to remove.

My long term need is to process firewood that is delivered in 100” logs and stacked in a pile. I would like to pick up one log at a time from the stack.

Which grapple would you recommend and why.

Thanks

So, the 55", for the bx, if i order 1 in the next couple of days, how far out are you telling people for delivery?

eubie5, the average lead time should be in the vicinity of 8 weeks. That's our best guess at this time.
We'll get you in line when you're ready!

Currently 120 people are waiting for a Wicked 55!!

My ultimate choice based on your tractor and applications is the Wicked 60 root rake grapple. It will greatly enhance your tractor's ability to remove the saplings because of its dozer geometry.
You'll also be able to pluck the logs off of a pile! It will also keep the load close and maximize your loader's lift capacity.

I'm looking for a wicked grapple to do mostly moving large rocks and digging up roots as well as moving brush obviously. I'm pretty sure I don't want to give up the load carrying versatility of the long bottom to gain a bit better root digging ability. I'm also thinking of getting a stump grinder to take care of a few stumps and the grapple is going to be used to dig up any remaining roots.

you mentioned the dual lid is better at grabbing loose firewood and I can definitely see myself doing that in the future. My main concern is about visibility because one of the uses I plan to use the grapple for is to pull out saplings but for that I need to see where I am pinching and from the few pics I have seen on your site that are from the drivers view. seems to me like the dual lid may have better visibility for that purpose.

I read a thread on here that someone built a sapling puller adapter plate to bolt on to the grappler but for the life of me I can't remember who did it and I can't seem to find the thread.

I think I have it narrowed down to a 54 or 60 inch long bottom dual lid. my front tires outside width is 63" but I was hoping to keep the grapple smaller for more maneuverability in the woods. tractor is a kubota 4740 cab with la854 loader

Does my reasoning make sense? What is the lead time on one of these?
