Which trailer

Need a new trailer and cant decide what to go with. Towing with an 08 f350 4x4 srw and the heaviest load is a cat mini ex 304 it specs at 10800lbs. Current trailer is between the fenders, 25ft, twin axle, single wheels, 14000lbs. Thought about tandem wheeled flat deck. But from my understanding even towing empty the total gcvw of truck and trailer isnt legal. Dont have cdls and would rather not have them. Everyone has a different take on the laws its hard to make a call. Last time I weighed the F350 it was 9500lbs. Any suggestions would be helpful.

In Georgia if you are non commercial you dont have to have Cdl"s. If you are using your truck and trailer for business, then you need to stay under 26k or get your Cdl's, it is no big deal to get them. The laws are very confusing about what is required. Some states require a non commercial D/L for private use. I will send you the Regs. if you want them. What do you have in the bed of your truck to make it weigh that much. My 99 3500 DRW Dodge weighes 7500#
I just called Georgia driver services and the lady said even for personal use over 26k you need a CDL, Unless it was built as a RV. Disregard my first sentence

danceswithdirt, The 9500 lbs does sound really high, most the guys with 2011 F250/ 350's are 7500 to 8200 lbs. with fuel and passengers. Looking at the 2011 towing guide a F350 4X4 SRW with a diesel the gcwr is 23500 lbs (3.31 or 3.55 gears) and a 5th wheel towing capacity of 15800, up to 33,000 lbs with 4.30's & DRW . A gas 6.2L has a gcwr of 19000 lbs (3.73's) and 22000 lbs for 4.30 gears. If you have the V-10 I would think it would be somewhere in-between. You can figure out from these numbers and yours, what the max weight of your new trailer can be. Keep in mind for the capacity of your new trailer that you will have around 15% of the weight on the hitch in your bed. I hope this helps.

They are heavy , my 08 f350 dump at work weighs in at 9800 lbs empty on the scales , it is a diesel .

No way your truck weighs that much. I have had 3 F-350 SRW 4X4 trucks. All have been right around the 7,500# mark with me and 3/4 tank of fuel. Now if you have 2,000# of extras I can see it but my current 06 F-350 SRW 4x4 Crew Cab Short Bed is 7,600#.

Yeah I know its heavy and it does scale at around 9500lbs. Not sure why its so fat. Does have the 6.4 diesel. I put super springs on it. I do have tools box loaded and back seat usually full with extras as I travel. Even with that I cant see why mine is so heavy but I weigh it all the time.

I'm an ole country boy and not very smart but I'm having a hard time understanding why you need a new trailer based on what you said and that pic.

Is it because the gcvw is too much and you feel it will require a cdl? Is something wrong with the trailer? Or just want a new one. Nothing wrong with that.

Just for comparison, my 2011 F250 with 6.7 and 20" wheels plus hard flip bed cover weighs in at 8100 full of fuel.

Double would be nice for very heavy tongue loads or uneven load weights. Why exactly do you need/want a new trailer? Just go through the process and get a cdl a license for your setup. Then you don't have to worry. If you want to upgrade you should looks at dual tandem goosenecks. The only other option after 14k gvwr is to pretty much jump to 2 10k axles. You could get 8k axles and a 16k trailer, but it isn't much of a jump and may put you in cdl territory anyway.
