Can you imagine what would happen Egon if they received that much
high moisture ocean air generated snow over here as they do in Scotland
where the photos were taken?? It would be total chaos.

The photos are not from Scotland but about equal distance the other way in Montana.

Don't forget about Lakes Michigan and Huron. Georgian Bay is pretty much lake sized too. Buffalo New York is one of the most notable municipalities for being buried in snow.

What, no snow west of the Great Lakes or Newfoundland??

Hello Mr. Yuan,

The amount of snow and the type of snow depends on many factors due to our geography and the Jet streams behavior.

The Great Lakes is a huge driver of our weather patterns in winter which will depend on the water temperature which can create huge heavy snow snow storms that can stop everything for days on end due to low visibility
high winds due to the Jet Stream if the Great Lakes are still warm enough to evaporate where this moisture is picked up and carried eastward. If one or more of the Great Lakes are frozen over which does not happen very often we have very small snow volumes.

Lake Eire and Lake Ontario are huge weather generators the year round unless they are frozen over.
With Lake Erie Being an average of forty feet deep(12 Meters on average) it will freeze first if the
weather is cold enough.

The same thing can occur in the Eastern Coastal areas due to the Gulf Stream and the Northern Canadian Maritime's creating a huge potential for warm ocean fed snow storms being created by winds from the west or due to high south wind storms bringing moisture coming from the Mid Atlantic or Carribean ocean areas.

Hi Leonz,

Thank you for your analysis.

Thanks Google, I can study the snow situation in USA.

OK, I have a 20 hp CUT with rear blower.
A lot depends on snow conditions, If the snow is somewhat wet (like snowball or snowman wet) a cut will compact the snow as you drive over it and then the blower wont work as the 'inverted ruts' against you plus your wheels will slide off of the ridges.
You need a lot of weight to cut down thru those ridges. In drier snows no problem.

Those 'pull blowers' were designed for suburbs where they back up to the garage door, drop and drive out to the next driveway.
Like those contractors do 30 driveways an hour! Also they use 75 hp(or more) tractors. Time is money for them so cost is minimal with the volume. Each tractor probably covers 200 driveways all of which must be cleared B4 7:00 AM.

Yup, that's pretty much all they use here now.

I think Buffalo was the recipient of the of the golden snow globe this year after a few dry years.

Going to the sun road in Glacier park Montana. It's usually June something before the road gets opened for summer.

Thanks for jogging my memory Egon. Louis J. Hill the son of James Jerome Hill was the founder of Glacier Park and he had the main lodge there built and as a result created a thriving tourist business for the Great Northern passenger rail business while he was the chairman of the board of the Great Northern Railroad.

The best snow blower is the one that someone else is operating while I sit inside with a hot drink and watch.

No actually dick the best snow blower/snow clearer is the single 88 ton self propelled phantom Beilhack HB1600S climbing Donner Pass in a snow storm forcing the 4 so called rotary plow trains of the UPRR used to keep the mountain clear to jump off the tracks leave thier wheel sets aside grow legs and run down the mountain screaming like bunch of 6 year old girls. :cool2:

Yes I am partial as one HB 1600S with two operators and two track laborers can keep the mountain open more efficiently than four plow trains running with two flanger plow trains

The best snowblower in my opinion, would be a pull behind with a rotating drum, but I don't believe anyone makes something like that?

Hello Piston,

Not yet anyway. they would need a third valve to rotate the drum cylinder, and the smaller mules do not have three sets of remotes unless its offered as an option. The hydraulics for a 1. rear scraper and the 2. spout rotation and 3. spout angle for most larger mules take up everything as far as hydraulic power goes with a possible diverter valve in liu of a third valve.

Would it be possible (within reason) to modify a Pronovost TRC model to make it a pull behind?

/ which snow blower is better? #59
Hello Piston,

The short answer is that it would cost you less money to invest in a used/rebuilt Pronovost motorized snow caster that you can mount to the bucket of your backhoe provided it has the hoisting capacity as it is too much money to reverse engineer the current TRC's.

/ which snow blower is better? #60
I just don't want it mounted on the front.
I think the pull behind would be best, but found a good dealt on a 7' TRC. I'll hold off till after it snows this winter and I realized I procrastinated too long.
