What's Your Favorite Sandwich...???

There's probably something broken in me, but above all those great sandwiches you guys have listed (and I like those plenty), I love a fried egg sandwich.

....Well, maybe not, if you had brown bagged it to school for most of your grade school years. Have you ever been in a lunchroom that had contained brown bag lunches for the past 100 years? :laughing::licking:

My #1 is a Philly cheesesteak, with provolone and mozzarella cheese, toasted in the oven until golden, #2 is a good slow roast beef, with dipping au jus. After that, pretty much any sandwich will do....

Not a bad one in the bunch. I was in the mood for a Monte Cristo and a Rueben here a couple weeks back. Ended up making a Monte Rueben. A nice twist. You Rueben lovers should give it a try.

Never heard of Schlotzsky's so I looked them up and saw what their original consisted off sounds delicious . :licking:

Sometimes just some fried eggs in butter, on toasted bread can hit the spot. Or a couple of sliced totates with Oregeno, mayonese and salt. If I can have a tasty sandwich without meat, that's a big plus for me.

I travel a lot and I actually like the Jimmie Johns chain for sandwiches. They're just a no-nonsense sandwich but have a lot of flavor compared to many of the other sandwich/sub chains.

yea, Jimmy Johns are (or at least used to be) good. I havent had one this year due to covid

I don't think I could narrow it down to just one. Some faves of mine (in no particular order);
steak & cheese (or steak bomb)
meatball sub
ham & swiss on rye
good Italian sub
PB&J (J in my case being raspberry preserves)
grilled tuna & cheese on rye

No mayonnaise EVER, mustard where appropriate (kinda nasty on the PBJ :thumbdown Other than the grilled tuna, never toasted.
Tough to find good sub rolls anymore.

Meatloaf and mustard on flax seed bread

I like meatloaf, but not in a sandwich. Dunno why, not much different from a hamburger.

Food/Sandwich cravings change once satisfied as do favorite meals/dishes etc...

When was the last time you had a "Dagwood"...??

Sometimes a spread of cold cuts, cheeses etc. and an array of different buns and rolls are as satisfying as any single larger sandwich...

Quality bread and rolls and quality meats and cheeses etc will always make the best sandwiches...but sometimes "extremes" can make the simplest sandwich taste wonderful...

Wife and I were talking about them the other day. I haven't seen one for years and stumbled across one last year. Made it a point before I left that area to swing in for a sandwich.

They used to have the best Cubans.

They didn't have it on the menu. I was actually disappointed with there menu.

Local one here is good if you get the sandwich on wheat bread. Not sure what the deal was with their white bread, but it would tire out your jaw muscles trying to chew it. I got through about 4" of an 8" sub and my jaw was plumb wore out the white bread was so tough.

Wife and I were talking about them the other day. I haven't seen one for years and stumbled across one last year.

I first visited a Schlotzskys in Hopkinsville KY in 2000. I was taking Ultralight flying lessons and the group went there for a break. I asked what's good and my instructor said The Original. I was hooked and they even had one only about 30 miles away from where I live. What I heard is they grew too fast and they filed for Chapter 11 in 2004. The store 30 miles away closed. One in my home town didn't last a year and the only one in the St Louis area also closed. I admit they are kinda pricey compared to other chains. Well there's one open again near St Louis so I stopped on the way to visit family over Fathers day. Early 2000's my dad went on a camping road trip and we stopped at one. he enjoyed it.
Years ago I had seen these Runza restaurants across Nebraska and drove on by. A friend said try their original so I did about two years ago and yeah it was pretty tasty.

Corned Beef with all the fixings ... including alfalfa sprouts - deli style, 4 inches thick, sour dough bread

anything from Sam's Deli in Victoria, BC ... haven't been there in 20 yrs

I think the tough bread is part of what I like. If you've ever been to France, they have ham and cheese baguettes (it's like a national sandwich). The bread is the same way, a little tough and takes a good tug to get a piece off. It's just a texture thing that I seem to like. I do love those French ham and cheese baguettes though. They have true ham (not processed ham), strong swiss cheese and great mustard.

I've had some really good sandwiches on baguettes. The best for me was a cheese steak with grilled onions and peppers stuffed in one

Smoked Meat - Montreal
Pulled Pork - just about anywhere but best I've had was in TN
Quesadilla Burger - Applebees

A good sloppy, loaded roast beef poboy on toasted bread. Anywhere around New Orleans makes great ones.

When it comes to homemade sandwiches...it's hard to beat left over turkey or roast beef...with the former I like a glob of leftover stuffing along with some green onions and radishes on the side...for the latter...just rare roast beast on good buttered bread with s&p...or with lettuce and tomato and a little mayo or miracle whip...potato chips complement most homemade sandwiches...
