How much is the mower deck for it?

What do you want to do with it?

The tree terminator is about 5k and will cut up to 4" trees. Great for underbrush. They make cheaper mowers for a little under 3k but really only good for pasture mowing.

I have 11 acres with moderate changing elevation and terrain (too bumpy to go very fast). About 4 acres is covered in trees and underbrush. The rest native Texas grasses. My ultimate goal Is to clear all the underbrush, mow a few acres of pasture, light dirt work and gravel driveway maintenance, mow tank dam, push up small brush burn piles, drill post holes and build fence, pull and move trailers around on the property, load and unload trailers (I have pallet forks already), and last but never least I got to have something to go check the mail in.

I really really really like the toolcat... Just not sure if I can justify double the cost. It will definitely be more versatile and washers to maneuver between trees. They are just so expensive COMPARED to a tractor.

They are really really really expensive. I would love to have one too. I've often wondered who buys these things at full price in the first place. I can't even afford a good used one. I guess if I had a business that I could put one to work and the numbers worked out that you could make money with it...then maybe I could afford it. At close to 50grand new, you'd have to be able to get $60/hour and keep it busy at least 30 hours a week to swing it. Tough to do for 5 years.

A fully optioned 5610 TC (3pt version and pto) will list for about $50k. I bought mine with 20% discount from list which is probably better than most can do. A cabbed JD 4720 with most options will be in the $45K list range. However, the CUT can't run a lot of the attachments the TC can because ot the lower gpm of the hydraulics. The 5600 Tc will be several thousand dollars less than the 5610.

Hey radman! Thanks for you comparison review you wrote up between the cuts and tc. It really helped me understand the difference. I have Bern demoing a tc 5600 for the last month and love it. My inky reserve was price however I am looking at a used machine that cost half what a new one does. So far I have only got one price recommendation from this thread but it was right in line with what I have researched. This particular machine can be bout for right at 25k. I was trying to decide wether to go ahead and buy it or go for a 2 year old non cabed cut for half the price. Both will get done what I want but not near as fast or comfortable in the cut. Was trying to justify the extra 12k for comfort and speed.

I really really rather have the tc as it out performs every cut I have owned.

I am very curious about the resale of these machines. In my area if I get in a bind I could sell the cut in a few days. I dont imagine the tc would sell that quick.

For what it's worth I've had my Toolcat for 3 years and use it on my small ranch. Not as heavy duty as some tractors, but definetly a lot easier on my body to use. It also makes a it easier to take a passenger to open the gates:)
Altogether I have roughly $40,000 invested with the attachments I use and I haven't had a second thought about buying it. It does some things better than a tractor and for some it would be better with a tractor, you have to decide if the good outweighs the bad. (for me it does)

I don't believe the resale of a TC is as good as a CUT. In part due to the overall higher price but also because most people have never seen or heard of the TC. I have both a JD 4520 with cab CUT and TC 5610. I will pick the TC for most tasks over the 4520. The 4520 will win if I really need the pto hp, more traction because of mud or if I really need the extra lifting height.

Double the cost is about right. Every chore on your list can be easily done by a 40hp CUT with implements that will cost you 25-50% of what you'll pay for Toolcat implements. A used CUT with cab would do everything except allow you to bring a friend along.

A good medium duty brush hog will handle up to 3 inch brush. The four inch trees can be pushed over and ripped out with a grapple. A good 40hp CUT will have a significantly stronger loader that will not only break out more but will be less vulnerable to abuse than the Toolcat.

IMO Toolcats are cool but are really estate maintenance vehicles optomized for institutional grounds maintenance, not farm or field work.

Need a new TC 5600 now. What prices are people hearing on the new tier 4 machines. I am ready to buy now. Interested in tier 3 as well as long as it is new.

Please take no offense to my next question but have you ever run a toolcat? Just curious and would like an honest answer. This is not meant to be negative in any way.

Only at a Bobcat dealership. Enough to realize that they are great tools and that like all tools they work well for some things and shouldn't be used for others. Look at the Toolcat marketing materials. This tool is primarily aimed at and optomized for grounds maintenance not rough field work. That is not to say they don't handle rougher work but it doesn't seem to have been the focus of its design parameters. They are more closely related to utility vehicles than tractors or bulldozers. I'd love to have one but not as a replacement for a CUT.
