Loader WHAT IS QUICK ABOUT QUICK COUPLINGS?

/ WHAT IS QUICK ABOUT QUICK COUPLINGS? #61
What it sounds like to me is it's all about the pressure, before hook up one must relieve the pressure, in 11 years I never taken my FEL off but when I do I'll try to remember to relieve the pressure, if that dont work I start throwing hammers to relieve my pressure.
My loader valve (made by ALO) will connect, pressure or no pressure...

You set the top half on the bottom half and rotate a handle, everything hydraulic is then connected and working perfectly.

Anyone else remember the quick couplers, of fifty or so years ago, where you inserted the male tip and then gave it a twist to lock it in? The female part had a helical groove to accept a pin in the male part and then a detent at the end of the groove. Not sure but I am guessing they could be connected under pressure. Maybe a good simple idea lost in time?

These kind of things still exist, the smaller (compact) tractor market seems to have adopted the standard poppet couplers as their mainstay. Flat face, more in the skidsteer market, and so on..... Threaded flat face are nice, but aren't exactly quick. Flat Face Couplers for Applications Requiring No-Leak Performance
