What did you do for your tractor today?

I hosed it off, wiped things down, cleaned the mirrors and the instrument window, and generally dressed things up.

Then I started the engine so the heat would help dry things out. This blew a bunch of sooty water out of the exhaust stack and all over everything I had just cleaned.

Prepping my tractor to run 3/4" hoses from front to rear. From the rear mounted power pack to the front mount brush hog. Ordered parts, figured out what to do with the hoses in the front and need to get the hoses ordered.

Yesterday I put the kick panel back on under the seat. I had removed it to work on the seat and some controls about 6-7 mos ago. Nice to have it back on.
Used the tractor for some weed scraping last evening. Probably do the same today... I ordered some /@/*! metric threaded couples and rod to experiment with extending the 4wd lever upwards. More on that when it tries to happen

Yesterday I stopped at the Harbor Freight store. I dropped $16 on a hammer and a wrench.
Today I combined them into 1 tool as inspired by something I saw here on TBN.
This will stay in my tractor tool box. In hindsight - It could have been smaller = 10" Crescent and 1.5 pound hammer.
But the 12" and 2 lb will work.

I bought my L3010 in 2001. Early on, before SSQA loaders and grapples were common place on tractors, I put a grapple on my pin on bucket. I extended the grapple tines to get good closer with the tooth bar.

On several occasions including earlier this summer I have bent one of the tines side ways. Usually while popping rocks out of a woods road. You can see they are at risk.

They always bend in the same place - Between the end of that wide cross support plate and where I welded on the extension tips. I just pound them back straight with a 3 lb hammer. Today I was looking for something to do and decided it would be good to try and strengthen that area. I cut out some gussets from the small piece scrape box.

And welded them in - even had time to dab on some paint before lunch.

It should help at least.

Nice reinforcement. Tines take a lot of stress. You always do good work.

Looking over my equipment, tractors and attachments there is hardly a piece that hasn’t been repaired or modified to improve function or durability. Opportunity to challenge our skills brings greater work satisfaction.

Welded up a grill guard for my new to me MX5200 out of some 6" channel I had. Decided to make it a fixed guard instead of trying to fabricate something that tilts out of the way of the hood. The hood just barely clears the guard, but it works. Also incorporated storage for a chain and a front D ring.
