Guess I just don't understand how a legged winch would provide and 'anchor', and not just pull the tractor rearward. Perhaps it's designed for a 'track' machine? ~Scotty

I've seen both types, the ones with legs are mostly older winches. A friend of mine has one with legs, works fine for him. Personally, I'd sooner have the blade. It's likely an older Norse.

Is it possibly a Norse? I have an old one, a 2500, with legs. The pic attached shows a receiver carrier I use in the woods, but you can see the winch also. This never had a blade, though they were optional then. I've thought about adding a blade but I use the 2" receiver too much and the blade would limit how low it could go to catch a trailer pintle.
