Interesting. As a DIY amateur simply repairing/maintaining old thrashed farm equipment and using three welders that cost me under $100 (used) for all threeI stay out of the brand-name forums. I look down the Today's Posts list until I find a 'what am I doing wrong' post from a beginner. I've seen a lot of excellent general-purpose advice in response to those.
My best find of all was the thread where the prior owner of my mig welder described what he was doing, as he researched then put on every imaginable upgrade. Then he went and bought a couple thousand $ welder and sold this one for near nothing. A true DIY hobbyist/mad scientist/inventor. I don't think he ever welded anything with this or his new one.
Give it another try. I think you'll find something worth reading.
I agree. Welding Web definitely has its highs and lows, but should not be entirely discounted as it can be both informative and entertaining at times.
