Greetings...

Backblade is near YM336D...I'll be playing..er...WORKING with it this evening /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. I plan on trying to re-grade (crown) a road as well as deepening some trenches...should I weight the blade (cement blocks, etc...), or will it's 300+lbs be enough to move earth? (I'm used to using a land plow with some down pressure...).

Thank you!

I'd try it bare first. The limitation will probably be the amount of traction the tractor has. At least that's been my experience. If you've got too much of a load you'll spin the tires.

When I box blade I hang my suitcase weights on the edges to add an extra 240lbs to the existing 500lbs. It helps a great deal.

Weights make a difference, but it depends on what your soil is like. My drive was a little too dry and hard packed - the weights helped, but I think a little more moisture in the soil would help tremendously!

Worked Great without Weight!

Greetings...

Well, I started replacing the ditches over the weekend. I was VERY impressed-a little tilt, a little angle and WOW look at that dirt (and rocks!) Move! I did manage to break a piece off where the pin keeps the blade from swiveling (BIG rock, and no doubt going a little too fast-I slowed down a gear after that /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif).

Cheer,
