Tires water in tire question

Chadtoolio,

You can also get that adapter from here.

I used it to fill my tires with windshield washer fluid. It was a night and day difference. If I were to do it over again I would go with "Rim Guard" It's expensive but weighs more. I'm still happy this way though.

Hmm, 1 gallon at a time x 30 gallons per tire. Seems like this would take a LONG time.

maybe I didn't make the question clear.
The adapter I bought attaches to the hose, then to the tire valve. You turn on the water and as the tire fills, you bleed off the air through the valve, till the water replaces the air.
The question is, how do I introduce the anti freeze. Sorry to say I don't have it on tap, through the hose, so I'm stumped.
I'm sure it's some simple trick, and when someone explains it, I'll be duly embarassed for not thinking of it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Most places mix the solution in a 55gal barrel and then use a small transfer pump with a hose connection. makes a easy job. You can even use one of those drill attachment pumps, slow but it gets the job done.

Ah ha! See, I don't have any of those things.
Guess I wil soon though! I've seen the transfer pumps and have been considering getting one to pump diesel.
Have to go shopping soon, I guess.

thanks, anthony

I think I'll go with the antifreeze, I don't have any pets.

By the way, since it's 4 wheel drive, should I do all 4 tires?

Wonder why you shouldn't fill the front ones too?

Because the loader is enough extra weight.
Put to much more weight on the front and you will be picking up the back wheels when you fill the bucket and go to lift the load with the fel.
Also excessive weight up front puts undue strain of the front axle and running gears and steering components.

Adding water to the front tires will not make it more likely to lift the rear end. The weight is on the ground at the pivot point. It can not exert any force that would make it want to lift the rear end up. Suitcase weights in front of the tires could cause this, but not weight in the tires.

) Who cares? They should not be on his property. If he is doing work at their place then that is a concern, if not then why worry. If my neighbors had pets that they did not control that were always over at my place I would probably put out some antifreeze for them.

I hadn't really intended for this to become an issue, but I don't anticipate spilling all that much, if any.
My nearest neighbor is about half a mile away, and all he's got is horses, cows, and sounds like some roosters /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
But if I see any of them sucking on a tire valve, I'll try and warn 'em off!
Seriously, it's a good thing to be aware, and I'm glad someone brought it up. I'll try to keep it in mind.

IMO the antifreeze issue is overblown. Yes, it is toxic, but so are many other things used around the homestead. Handle and store them responsibly. If leaks are the concern, cooling systems seem more vulnerable than tires, but maybe all our vehicles have been changed to non-toxic antifreeze(if not aircooled). /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
